Rutgers ABSN 2013

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

Hey everyone, my name is Nicole and I am hoping to be accepted into the Rutgers accelerated nursing program that begins this May/June. I would love to chat with anyone who is currently in the program or who is applying for entry into the program for 2013.

Here's a little about myself..I graduated from Rutgers in 2010 with a double major in biology and nutrition (3.7 GPA), and then went on to graduate school at UMDNJ where I studied Epidemiology (4.0 GPA). I am really hoping to be accepted into the Rutgers program, but am nervous because they only accept a small cohort of students. I've also applied to Seton Hall's ABSN program which is at Georgian Court, but Rutgers is my 1st choice.

I'm in Hunterdon County close to the Somerset border. I'm thinking of study groups and possible car pools too. Looking at the class schedule it seems we will have Fridays off this summer and only Pharm on Mondays so those will probably be my study days

Congrats!! I'm from Ocean County, which is a bit of a hike but I'll be moving to New Brunswick around August

Forgot to add that I have to test out of HIPP and Cultural Dimensions! I'm looking to take care of this ASAP

I am from Mercer Co. / Lawrence Twp.

I'm from Mercer County as well.

I'm really eager to find out about the challenging thing, as it turns out I don't have the technology elective (I guess I was directed to the wrong online list during application time) or the nutrition completed (I took a 1 credit course and you need a 3 credit course), plus the two Rutgers specific courses. I need to start working if I'm going to make that work!

Also, I can't figure out where to see the New Brunswick/Newark thing on my page.

Hopewellmom, I can't figure out the Newark vs New Brunswick thing either. I've tried to contact admissions, the nursing dean and the administrative assistant to the program with no luck. Hopefully RU administration will not be this difficult to deal with once we start. I wouldn't mind Newark but I'm 2 hours from Englewood Hospital in mild traffic. I also cannot access the Enrollment Pathway even though my Status says they've received my deposit. I'm already starting to get annoyed and I haven't even begun!

Hi guys,

My status page says I was admitted too :), with special condition: New Brunswick campus.

I am a re-enrollment applicant (since I already graduated from Rutgers) and may have a slightly different application status page than some here. I was wondering about the challenges too. My application status page doesn't mention any of the classes I need to challenge, but I received a call from the Dean last week letting me know that I would need to challenge at least two.

Did any of your pages actually mention which classes you have to challenge? Also, has anyone made a deposit or registered? I'm not sure how to proceed. Tried to call the deans and the school the last two days with no luck either...

I finally got in touch with the Administrative Asst for Student Services. I wish I could post her name but ToS won't allow it. She informed me that I'm in the NB cohort. The $150 deposit link is on your Status page where you accept the offer. I still am having trouble with creating a NetID now. Apparently my information isn't in the system yet or something.

Hi LittleDoe,

Hmm, my page didn't have an option to accept or make a deposit, but I am a re-enrollment student so I wonder if that is why. The page is probably different. Perhaps, re-enrolled students don't need to make a deposit for enrollment?

I've been trying to plug in my previous student ID and password, but it hasn't worked either. Maybe the registrar needs time for processing. I want to get started with financial aid right away and the course challenges, if I have any. I've emailed as well and still haven't heard anything back. Guess they are pretty busy.

I emailed and left a voicemail and luckily that worked for me. It took 4 days for my acceptance to be processed in order to use Enrollment Pathway and I called the help desk and finally got my NetID to work. The website said I needed to pay the enrollment/deposit fee first, but it may be different for re-enrollment students. Good luck in figuring it all out. Hopefully you'll have better luck since you already know the ropes of the RU online system.

Littledoe,

I'm glad you got in touch with someone. I emailed and left a voicemail and haven't heard back. Did you get any info about challenging courses? I just don't know how I can commit, if I don't know the full details. I may be short 4 classes! I am really eager to hear more!

Hi, everyone-

About a year ago, when I was researching the program, I spoke to a Rutgers nursing admissions officer (**********) , and she said that the ABSN program was based in Newark. After seeing that a few people were admitted to the NB campus, I called the general admissions office a minute ago and the admissions officer said the same thing, that the ABSN program is only in Newark. Confusing..

Side note: I live in Plainsboro (Middlesex County), right next to Mercer County!

hopewellmom- How did you find out that you need a technology elective? I had to take graphic design classes for my previous major, wondering if that's acceptable. TIA.
