Rutgers ABSN 2013

Published

Hey everyone, my name is Nicole and I am hoping to be accepted into the Rutgers accelerated nursing program that begins this May/June. I would love to chat with anyone who is currently in the program or who is applying for entry into the program for 2013.

Here's a little about myself..I graduated from Rutgers in 2010 with a double major in biology and nutrition (3.7 GPA), and then went on to graduate school at UMDNJ where I studied Epidemiology (4.0 GPA). I am really hoping to be accepted into the Rutgers program, but am nervous because they only accept a small cohort of students. I've also applied to Seton Hall's ABSN program which is at Georgian Court, but Rutgers is my 1st choice.

I am in the program now , let me know what questions u have, time is limited! :)

Hey! My name is Emily and I am also a Rutgers ABSN program hopeful! I will be graduating with my B.S. in public health this May, with a 3.7 gpa (right now I have a 3.691- but I will more than likely get a 4.0 this semester which will bump me up). I have completed all the pre-requisites for the program, except for microbio which I am taking now. I have taken all the pre-requisites at Rutgers as well. I have three years of part-time healthcare field experience (which I wrote in my personal statement).

Rutgers is my first choice. I have yet to apply elsewhere since I have not taken a chem lab, which most other programs require.

I am extremely nervous since I too heard that the Rutgers program is extremely competitive. I can't take the wait anymore! I just want to know if I got in. The only thing keeping me sane is reading threads from previous years of other students who were also in this situation. By the looks of the threads from previous years, decisions were made right about the last week of March/first week of April.

I also applied to RU's ABSN program. I emailed them about the notification date and they said decisions will be out by next week via the website. Best of luck!

Hey Emily! Are you graduating from RU? That's where I went for undergrad and took most of the prereqs. I'm thinking that our public health degrees will help us in our careers as RNs somewhere down the line. Were you hoping to go to the Newark or New Brunswick campus?? I am super nervous because of the competitive nature of admissions...but hopefully we will hear back from the school early this week! Lots of luck to you!!!!

I have been calling about the notification date and I have heard the same thing. I am hoping we find out ASAP! Which campus were you hoping to be accepted to? Good luck to you!!!! :)

That's awesome you are in the progam. I am hoping that we hear early this week if we are accepted into the program. I have so many questions lol. Are you based in New Brunswick or Newark? I went to RU undergrad in New Brunswick so I am hoping to be accepted here. And are your clinicals close to campus? Also, did you have to challenge any prereqs? And if so, how does this process work? Thank you so much :)

Yes I am graduating from Rutgers NB. I've heard that a Rutgers undergraduate degree definitely gives an applicant an edge. While they do not advertise it, it shows them that you can handle the rigor of the courses that Rutgers offers. I am hoping to go to the NB campus if accepted, since I live only 15 minutes away. From what I understand, they will place you closer to where you live, but I am not completely sure. I am super nervous too! Best of luck to all of you!

I've actually heard that RU students have an edge too, so hopefully this will help us out. I'm hoping to be accepted to the NB campus also :)

Hey Guys! I'm Laura. I'm so glad I found this thread. I started one back in December on the same topic but had little luck with replies. Anyway, found out late last night that I've been accepted. I wrote in my personal statement section that I wish to be in the NB cohort, so I hope that sways their decision. I wouldn't mind traveling the 45 minutes to Newark, but not the hour and a half to Englewood Hospital. Good luck to you all and please let me know if you got in! Can't wait to meet my potential classmates!!

Hi Laura!

Congrats!!! How did you find out? An e-mail? Or on your status page?

Congrats Laura!! That's fabulous
