Depends on the entrance exam being used now...many programs have gone to the TEAS or HESI others use the NLN entry exam. Once you know which exam others can let you know how to prepare[/quote']

Thank you

I just took and passed the entrance exam... They use the TEAS V. If you get the study book for it it over prepares you. It isnt too hard- but you will definately need refreshers isn math, science, and english if you arent fresh out of school.

Hi everyone! Just wondering if there is anyone out there on here that will be attending OCVTS this coming September??? I am !!! Super excited for it to start.. Currently waiting for my criminal history to come back then I can go for the drug screening then the interview. September can't come quick enough!! If there is anyone who has already been through it and an give insight to the program and any tips I would appreciate it!

Hi! Yes, I am also starting the LPN program in September. It is very exciting and I agree it can not come fast enough. You are the first person I have seen so far doing the 2013/2014 class. We just might be in the same class. =)

Some advice I have gotten thus far is too start studying medical terminologies. There are pages and pages they will give us throughout the course. Any head start would be great.... I am all caught up with background checks and drug screening. I believe the next step is after Easter to see financial aide adviser =) You can start that application online now. I wish you luck and hopefully we will hear from more people soon!!

Hi! So excited to meet someone else going to be in class!! Where do you live ? I live in Manahawkin and work at SOCH.. I have already taken medical terminology but I will be brushing up on it.. Also I heard you get a massive amount of medical abbreviations to memorize so I'm studying that ahead too. The secretary gave me the name of the fundamentals book we are gonna be using so I was going to get that ahead of time too... As far as being in the same class I know there's an A and B class going on the same time.. Just so glad to be able to be doing this!!!

Thanks I tried pm you but didn't go through... I can't wait to start but soooo nervous! I've heard it's hell! Lol what should I be doing to prepare now? I have the A&p book and the fundamentals book that I've starting reading. What/where did you get the uniforms/ shoes? Thank u for reaching out to me!

Honestly, from September until about Christmas break, it's insane. You learn SO much. Just make sure you quickly get into a study habit that works for you. Personally, I would go to the cafe and Barnes and Noble and study there. All the coffee In the world!! Haha the summer before, I didn't study anything. The only thing I knew going into the program was some medical terminology. You can study if it would make you feel better, but honestly, if you do, study directly from those books that they use. Don't go into every single detail, you'll over study yourself. We started with 50 students, there are 34 left. Don't let that scare you though. I had no medical experience going into this and I made it!

As for uniforms, I went to life uniform on hooper avenue in toms river. You tell them where you go and they have everything there for you. It's a little pricey. I only bought one blue uniform (for lab) and 2 white uniforms ( for clinical )

Enjoy your summer before this starts!! Don't study too too much. Know the basics! They'll teach you everything you need to know for the tests they give!

Where are you in te process? Did you go for your interview or orientation yet?

Wow thanks! I've already had my interview I go for my physical next month and we register in July. When I interviewed with the instructor she told me to start now! I have 2 of the books so far plus I have the syllabus from your class to study by. That's what she told me to do.. I've been trying to get a book with each paycheck so it's not so much all at once.. Right now I'm just highlighting and reading not really doing any note taking until we start .. What team are you on? They said I could request a team no sure which to choose??? I have plenty of medical background .. I work at SOCH.. Going to be working part time when I go to school- they are paying for it.. But I'm married with 2 kids ages 8 &. 16 so I have more freedom but still don't know how I'm gonna juggle everything?? I'm bridging to RN at OCC when I'm done... I have all the pre Reqs done just can't wait any longer.. All I know is that I have to pass! 2 friends went thru this program about 4 yrs ago one passed the other didn't.. I'm ready for this though! Thanks again for the insight and good luck to you! Did u apply for any jobs yet? I've been told don't bother applying to dr offices they don't pay.. Ltc is where to go...
