Looking for Burlington County College Nursing students

U.S.A. New Jersey

I am in the process of trying to transfer from Helene Fuld in Blackwood to Burlington County College's Nursing program. I would love to talk with either current or past students from BCC's Nursing Program to get some insight on their program. Any info would be really helpful.

Thanks - Janice

I graduated from BCC last may. I think it is a great program. A lot of Helene Fuld students talk up their program and think BCC is inferior because they get an extra year, but personally I work with graduates from Helene Fuld and I can't believe they are nurses. I think I may be a little biased, but I think BCC nurses are better prepared after graduation, especially if you get a job in a facility where you do your clinicals. Oh yeah and it's much cheaper.

Is it hard to get in? I'm thinking of transferring from Middlesex county college to BCC. please give me some details.

I had a meeting w/ the associate dean at BCC last week. This is the gist of what she said:

#1 - forget about transfering unless you are an LPN going for your RN. The only way to get in is as a new nursing student, which means taking Nursing I all over again.

#2 - unless you are a burlington county resident, don't even bother applying. She said preference is only given to burlington county residents.

#3 - preference is then given to those students who are previous BCC students, in good standing (gpa over 2.5), and have almost all of the prereq classes completed.

#4 - their evening program starts at 4pm, so you have to be available by then.

#5 - you need to get a 90% on the clinical math test to pass the semester

#6 - their passing grade for exams and stuff is 77%

That's all I've got so far, but I'll post more if/when I hear anything. I did send in an application this week, so I should hear an answer by mid June or so.

I just graduated from Mercer County College, am a Burlington County resident and I'm lucky to have been grandfathered in as it's now only open to Mercer County residents. Because of the huge influx of students into nursing programs, many county colleges are closing their doors to out of county students. I started at BCC, but it was just too far for me to travel and I didn't like their choice in hospitals for clinicals.

i also graduated from bcc last may...i think it was a great program and i actually started in philadelphia community but heir wait list was 2 years....i went to bcc and used my fiances address, i evntually moved here. it was alot cheaper and i think made me better prepared than alot of other nursing students some even with their bachelors........ its also very easy to get a job in burlington couty especially at the hospitals you had clinicals cause they saw you in action.
