Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

There hasn't been a need for a few years now (just after I decided to become nurse :cool:). The northeast is really bad from what I hear. I keep wondering whether to stay on this career track or move to something else, but this is really where my heart has been my whole life (well, previously it was to be a doctor) as my 'someday career', so here I go. I just hope I don't regret it. I don't have a lot of time left to waste finding a job!

Oh I love *****. Her teaching style is great! I had her for human bio. She really made the subject interesting and easy to understand. 11 more days! :lol2:

Are you applying for scholarships? I think I might just for fun, I really could use some extra money for books. My nursing dosages class ends this Wed.... so after that I plan on preparing everything for scholarships like essays, recommendations, ect.

It seemed like the program at BCC wasn't that good.... I also didn't like the campus. Which BCC did you attend? I heard there are like several. I went to the info session at Pemberton. So far from me lol.

Hi Everyone!

I also applied for Fall 2011 at GCC.I'm so nervous and trying not to get my hopes up.I submitted my AP II grade which was an A, but my hesi composite score was a 84.5.The same thing happened to me Dannipoint,I took the hesi twice and my scores were better the second time but I didnt meet the min in conclusions:(.I'm finished all my pre-reqs so if I get in I just have to focus on the nursing courses.Best of luck to everyone:)!

Ctine~ same here!! I was so dissapointed when I didn't make the minimum in conclusions and implications! I scored so high in everything else.... but hopefully our science grades will make up for that.... I'm so nervous! The wait is literally killing me. Best of luck to you!

I think there was only Pemberton when I went. I'm applying for scholarships. I have to! Ack. I have a psych test to finish this weekend and then I'll finish my apps for that. I recommended Prof **** to someone in my Spanish class yesterday. I'd take classes with her again in a heartbeat! Prof ****, too.

I also have been hearing the same thing. A lot of hospitals either prefer a BSN or someone with previous experience rather than just clinical. Like you said, Cynthia I think working as a CNA after the first semester would be good experience prior to finding a job as a nurse. I'm even considering LPN if I don't make it into the GCC nursing program. Hopefully the outlook for nurses will get better! It has to! :nurse:

Yes, same here! They were my favs so far!

I have two nursing dosage classes this week..... and a sociology paper and literature poetry project due this week..... it seems like the climax of the semester...... but it's only preparing us for the nursing program!

Hi Skeletor,

Did you find a job soon after you graduated from GCC? I'm just curious how the market is looking the past year or so......I know it will probably be different in 2 years, but it can't hurt to ask! :)
