Also, if someone has completed this progam and is persuing their baccalaureate, which school did you go to and how did the transfer go?

Hi Mary. You asked some good questions. I am applying for Spring 2012 as well, and was wondering a lot of the same things. When is your last pre-req class going to be over? I spoke with the Nursing department early last week and she said that the woman who handles the nursing applicants has to look at all applicants for all other programs as well, so she has a lot on her plate. She is trying to get to reviewing them sometime in July or maybe even August, due all of the applicants she has to review for BCC. Mary, how was the TEAS V when you took it? I am scheduled to take mine in a few weeks and was just wondering how it was.

Thank you for your encouragement. I find the whole process confusing and am trying to gather as much information as possible while stepping on as few toes as possible! I'm sure the person who reviews the applications is insanely busy, and I can't believe they'd put all that on one person. My last prerequisite class is PHI101 which I will complete August 8th (end of Summer 2 semester). I had registered to take it in the fall because I could take an online version of the class, but then realizing that I may shoot myself in the foot that way, I quickly switched to the Summer 2 course.

I have no issues with testing in general, especially with multiple choice. However, with being out of school for so long, I had forgotten most of the information (besides what I relearned in AP I). I ordered the TEAS V study guide three months in advance. However, while in school I sort of put off studying for it until the last minute. I am so glad I had the study guide and took the online practice tests, because that test was HARD. I felt like a failure after taking it, even though the guy at the testing center said "Good job! You passed!" :confused: Anyway, I still got above the national average, and I don' t think they expect people to get a perfect score, if so, not many. I wish you luck on your test! Remember to keep a cool head and STUDY!

Thanks for the encouragement and advice also. I am nervous about taking the TEAS. It has been about a year since i have taken some of these courses. But I have the ATI study guide and I have been trying like crazy to study everything before my exam date. I am glad to hear you did so well on the test. Don't stress about finishing your last pre-requisite late. I am finishing up Micro-biology the end of July. I am so confused as to what classes are definitely pre-requisites and which are not. I called the Nursing Office and they said to try to get as many pre-requisites in as early as possible, and to submit the grades for whatever summer classes that we took as early as we can. But as long as you have submitted your intent to enroll form to let them know that you would like to be considered, then you are fine. Are you a Burlington County Resident? I know that they give seats to the Burlington County Residents with all requirements met before the out of county residents. This whole process has been confusing and overwhelming for me. I am praying I get in!!

Yes, I am a Burlington County resident. I was under the impression that prerequisites are the general classes listed. I looked at the nursing program brochure and their example course-load is laid out in a way that includes the prerequisites, so I am confused. I will be done most classes excluding micro and lab and all nursing (5) courses. Ideally I'd take more than one nursing class per semester to get done more quickly. If their program course-load example includes four classes per semester, and THAT is why they say be available from 4P-12A M-F, then that is understandable. However, I am trying to figure out how much time ONE nursing course requires, since I won't have many other classes to take. :uhoh3:

Mary,

I was originally under that impression also. But then, I saw in those courses could also possibly be taken as co-reqs. So we could either apply with all of the pre-reqs completed, or apply right out of high school with none completed. This is how the Nursing Office previously explained it to me, but it is a little confusing. I have a Bachelor's in Biology, so I have already taken most of the general classes that are listed. But, the way that everything is explained, i am so nervous about the application process.

I was also wondering too about how they would like us to be available from 4 to 12. That is such a large gap of time if we would only be taking one nursing class. I know that some students would be taking the pre-reqs as co-reqs and maybe that is why they say we would need to be available from 4 to 12? I don't know. I would have liked to take more than one class per semester, but I am not sure if the classes are sequential, making it impossible to take those classes at the same time.

I applied as well for the 2012 spring class. I still have micro and nutrition which I am taking in the fall. I am currently taking a&p II. I was under the impression that summer I session counts, but summer II session is late. That is what I was told atleast. I am pretty sure that I will get waitlisted since I am so short on my sciences but I am still trying to stary positive. My GPS is 3.87 and I got a 60 something on the teas. I was also told there is no reason to take it again... all you need is the passing score and its all the same after that.

My best friend went to BCC, and there is no way to double up on the NUR classes. You can not graduate early. It takes 2 years.

I hope that everyone gets in... I hate this waiting game. I have been doing nothing but stressing over this. There are not many schools to apply to in the area.

Thanks for replying. I hope you get in too! That is bad to hear about the summer 2 session being late. I have to go sit down with someone and get the scoop. Does anyone have any advice as to who to sit down with? That is good to know about not being able to double up on the NUR courses, thank you very much for that info. Though that stinks for me! I was SO hoping to be able to do that, but sort of knowing that I couldn't. Are you able to find out from your friend the amount of time one NUR course needed? Thanks again for the info!

Each NUR course takes one whole semester. I have not heard any different. If you hear different let me know. That is the impression that I have been going on.
