Hi, I too, like jtjames, am a student at Holy Name. I agree with jtjames. It's a great school. I love the instructors and they are available to help you. I had to choose between Mountainside and Holy Name. I applied to both schools. Holy Name offers your diploma and AAS. While Mountianside offers the diploma. That was a big decision maker for me. Though Holy Name is more expensive it is well worth it. Holy Name offers a "a student for the day" you should try it and see if the school fits your needs. I don't know anything about Bayonne but Holy Name's curriculum to take your academics, along side your nursing courses and clinical is a plus. Some schools only allow you to take your pre req's before the nursing courses. I hope this helps you.

Good Luck!!!

I have a co worker that is in the Bayonne Program in her last semester and she loves it. However, I do work in a hudson county hospital and have heard and read in the local newspaper that they are having financial difficulties-which is something to take into consideration. Holy Name Hospital is where my mother went to school and she still raves about it....20 years later. :) very competitive and does cost a lot, but I have heard great things about it, I did not apply there only because it is too much of a commute for me to go there. hope that helps you. good luck!

Thank you to everyone who answered!

Merluv, you say that Holy Name is competitive to get into..

Does anyone know if there is a waiting list at Holy Name?

Right now I am leaning towards Holy Name based on how close it is to my home, and also the reviews I have read about it. I am studying for the NET right now, and taking it in less than a month! I think I should be able to handle it because I'll already have a bachelors degree and the material on it seems to fall within the level of things I did in college at least.

I just wonder what my chances of getting in are. I have no idea what it is that stands out to them in the application process. Can anybody tell me more about that if they have any ideas?

Holy Name is competitive.....the advice I have is study for the NET test. I can also say when you have passed the NET test they will schedule an interview and that's the big decision maker if your accepted or not. You should be able to express why you have such an interest in becoming a nurse and how rewarding it will be. A big plus on your side is that you have a bachelors degree. I believe the school is having another Open House April 9th if you haven't been to one yet. I hope this information was helpful. Keep me posted and Good Luck!!!!!!

Ah, an interview. I thought I remembered something about that! I do pretty well on interviews, generally speaking, so I guess that is good news. In the end I suppose either they will like me, or I won't. Oh, I hate not being able to control outcomes!

Do you know when I would find out if I got into the school? Or is it a rolling admissions sort of thing?.. I take my test March 8th.

i found out I got accepted pretty quickly, after the net test I think the results took approx 2 weeks if you score well enough they will call you for an interview. Interview = 99% accepted.

Now that is good to know!! At least I won't have to wait and wonder for too long!

Just keeping everyone posted...

I've been accepted to Bayonne pending I pass a math placement test and then take the corresponding math course this summer!

Meanwhile...I just recieved a voicemail from Holy name askign to schedule an interview!

So I am hoping an interview really does=99% accepted right now!

Meanwhile, I need to figure out how to miss work yet -again- for the interview...without getting fired.:uhoh3:
