Hi friends,

I am applying to the nursing programs at the Bayonne school of medicine, and also Holy Name Hospital in teaneck NJ. Has anyone gone to these schools, or know anybody who did go to them? ANY info or opinions you ahve about their programs would be very helpful!!

Thank you and happy new year!:balloons:

I'm not sure..we could always ask them during registration week. If it's only one class, I most likley will take it.

Specializes in psych, ltc, case management.

As I recall it sort of works out to one liberal arts class a semester.. Art history, philosophy, etc..

Hi everyone!

I wanted to know if anyone happened to know if there is already a waiting list for Fall '12. I already applied and was sent the information i needed for when i go to take my TEAS test. i am nothing but a ball of nervousness. i REALLY REALLY REALLY x 28373 want to get into this school, but i keep scaring myself and wondering if i will. im finishing a medical assistant program next month so i am hoping that will help with the acceptance and the science section for the TEAS test. i had originally applied at my school to go into the LPN program, but was unable to because i got a 60 something in the math and science section. do any of you think i will do better now that i have gone back to school? Another question - would i still have to send my high school transcript? its been 4 years since ive been in high school so im not sure if to send those or just the transcripts from the two schools ive been too. And should i send my current schools transcripts now even though i havent finished the program or wait till im done. i have been on the deans list and honors list so far.

Hi... I took my TEAS in Feb '12, and had my interview March 5th. I asked while at the interview if their was a wait list and her response was as of then there was not, but generally each year they develop one as the application deadline is nearing the end and last minute people apply. She said its usually the last minute apps that get wait listed.I am older and have a Masters degree but was told early on that in addition to my undergraduate transcripts, and grad transcripts they required my HS transcripts. Get them in!I would send everything now, and then again at the end of this semester if you are taking classes currently.I am a middle school teacher...I found that I needed to study and refresh a lot of my skills for the TEAS. I found the math pretty elementary...know fractions..adding, multiplying, dividing, subtracting..and converting to decimals. Percentages, ratios, and solving algebraic equations. There was nothing too hard. Taking the medical assistant classes should help you in the science section. If you've taken anatomy and regular biology classes you should do well. There were questions about cell organelles, classification of species (kingdom, phylum, class, order, genus, species, etc),. I highly recommend taking the online TEAS practice tests by ATI. They were very helpful..and the book , although boring, helped me do very well.I got my acceptance letter this week... Good luck!

hi erostk & everyone!I took my teas test last saturday & didnt do all that amazing. I panicked and got only one section above the 70 needed! When i took the test, the woman said that they look at the portfolio, so because you dont get a 70 doesnt mean you wont get in. I had alot of faith that i will get in with her comment being that i finished my medical assistant program with a 3.98 (each semester on honors or deans list) and having 2 awsome recommandations. I called after i got my results to check how long does the student usually take to hear from the school again. The woman that was on the phone to me seemed to have been insisting that the 70 was absolutely needed in order to get in. I explained to her about what the other woman said. She said once again about the 70 but added about looking at the overall portfolio. That woman made me feel horrible. Now im extremely nervous about the situation despite that i still try to keep the same faith and hope that ill still get in. How long after the teas test did you guys hear from them for an interview? i was thinking about sending in an essay about how much of a dream it would be for me to get into this program and two extra recommandations so they could see that i really want to be attending the school. Do you think i should send them now or wait till after i hear from them? Im iffy about sending them now because perhaps theyll be annoyed about it but if i wait mabe the space will be filled up already.

narestrepo, I was accepted into Holy Name for the Fall of 2012 and am very excited! I took the TEAS in early February and heard back about my interview about 3 weeks later. It took about another 3 weeks after the interview to receive the acceptance letter. In my personal opinion, I would wait until I hear either way before I do anything. Depending on what the decision is..they may offer you the LPN with a transfer into RN program. I'd wait and see what happens.

Elfie2012, congradulations on getting into the school!!! Btw do you know if the classes for LPN is transferable into the RN program? Do you know someone who were offered lpn into rn or did the admissions office tell you? Also, would you have to retake the teas test for the rn program if youve done the lpn program there?

Narestrepo- from my understanding some of the classes are the same... some of the sciences (anatomy and physiology) and fundamental nursing classes. Which will definitely lighten your load- since they will transfer into the RN program. I don't know of anyone that has been offered, but when I was sitting for the TEAS at the hospital the woman proctor asked at the end of the exam if any of us had questions. One of the people sitting asked "What is the required score for the RN program?" the proctor stated that they required "70 or above for RN, and 65 or above for LPN". After she announced the requirements a bunch of the people sighed and made faces... so she said "don't worry.. if you didn't do as well as you had hoped for.. we have accepted RN hopefuls into the LPN program and they have the ability to transfer into the RN program." I checked this on their website after returning home.. because I was pretty sure I had flubbed up a bunch of the sections. The website has an LPN to RN articulation program and it states that LPN's would be required to take an LPN Step Test. Yet, it makes no mention of the TEAS, which would lead me to assume that there is no TEAS requirement then.

The only thing that I would assume though would be that you'd be doing the LPN and then RN correct me if I'm wrong... adding up the semesters looks like it would take 4 years. If that is the case, then I'd think a BSN would make more sense.
