Does anyone can give any information about Bayonne Medical Center?

Thank you.

I really don't advise to even wasting your time taking the entrance exam to this school. What happens behind closed doors is totally different from what they want everyone else to know. This school shows no support for their students; whether it be school issues or personal issues. I know of many students that weren't in the failing position but opted to leave because of all the politics. I understand that where ever you go you will encounter things like this, but BMC takes it to a different level. People pay for an education... they should get what they are paying for, like teachers who teach and teachers who care. I know many students can find nursing school difficult... so difficult that it may cause anxiety. Nobody said it would be easy. But the lease they can do is help ease the pain by "being there" for their students. I know I may sound like a disgruntled student; but I'm just offering a voice for those who held their feelings back. It has gotten to the point where a former student comitted suicide because he couldn't take the unneccisary critisisms of the intructors after trying his hardest. All this happening weeks before graduation. From what I understand, they are trying to cover up the story by blaming another factor in his life. I think this is the begining of their downfall... slowly but surely the truth will reveal itself.

To bring up the suicide of a classmate of mine is horrible. You may have had your issues at the school, but to drag this person's tragic experience into your argument against the school is just plain wrong. You do not know the issues this person had in his personal life, or at school. Your statement is disgusting, and it does not speak well for your character.

I wish I knew which one of my former classmates you are. I know you can google my user name and find me out.

But to answer the original poster's comment. BMCSON is a school with an excellent track record for producing students who can pass the NCLEX. Simply put, the school produces results. I have found my time at the school filled with people who do care about the students. Even instructors who were not my favorite had our best intentions in mind. Everyone goes about things differently, and their styles may not have been what everyone would have wanted. But they always would make time to talk to us, and if you needed a meeting with them, they would always make time. You have to take advantage of things that are offered. For example, if you fail an exam at the school, have to do a self analysis of yourself. You can take advantage of this tool and meet with a faculty member and work out issues that you may have. Or you can simply fill out the paper and that will be the end of it. The school treats you like an adult, it does not coddle, but, at least in my case, it does care. The rules are the rules and there is no bending them. This provides structure for students, and made me feel like no one was getting special treatment.

With any school, you will find positives and negatives associated with it, but with any type of college it is truly what you make of it, and with this nursing school, I would say that what you give in is what is given back.

Go hunnbee for accrurately speaking the TRUTH about Bayonne Medical Center School of Nursing. It is a PATHETIC school. The teachers only know what they read word for word on a power point slide. Dont ask them a question...because they cant answer it. The teachers right down to the secretary at the front door when you walk in are nasty, rude and uncaring. The kid who committed suicide was in a clinical group with an instructor who does nothing but put people down. Use Bayonne as a last resort only but be prepared to be teaching yourself.

Life is tough, so is any nursing school they say. There are lots of obstacles on your way to your goal. Its your call how you navigate around them, or whine in a corner about it. Pressure can either crush coals or turn them into diamonds.

You might want to consider the outcome - 45 of us graduated this year, as of yesterday 33 are already registered professional nurses, and counting.

My ex husband use to say "You can catch more flies with honey VS vinegar". Enough said. You do not need to have a hostile learning enviroment just like you do not need to work in a hostile work enviroment. That folks is our new Jacho standard.

the director/instructor when i was there was terrible... she was cut throat and condescending. It was a hostile environment to say the least. my clinical instructor was AMAZING but she had no real affiliation to the school. Not sure who runs the show anymore, but if she is still there, stay away!! :nono:

Can't comment on Bayonne's School of Nursing....but as far as the HOSPITAL ITSELF....FORGET IT!!

1) They are in BANKRUPTCY (why associate yourself with a "potentially" unstable place?)

2) The State of NJ Dept of Health JUST RELEASED (within last week/early October) a ranking of NJ hospitals on 4 key "quality indicators"----and Bayonne was AMONG THE LAST, if not THE LAST in the heap, as far as quality. As they say: "where there is smoke, there is FIRE". STAY AWAY!!

yes the hospital also has a bad rep....it is known as the hospital where you check in but you dont check out...the er is not bad but if u need to be admitted try to get a transfer to another local hosp if possible

I worked at Bayonne Medical Center for 5 years. It is a small community hospital. It is

not "where you check in and don't check out." That comment is a disservice to the many caring doctors, nurses, and staff that work there. The patient population is mainly elderly with chronic issues. They also have a very good interventional cardiology service. It is a feeder hospital for the larger medical centers in NJ. The nurses, doctors, and staff know each other well. I have since moved to another state and work at a much larger medical center. The care is basically the same, except that the hospital where I am employed now has newer and more advanced equipment for nursing care, and more ancillary staff. I hope

some facts help more than the emotional comments presented.

I am currently a student at BMCSON and I can relate to all the negative comments made. I can only speak about

my own experiences when I say that these teachers are a bunch of A**HOLES! Especially code name "Big Bird" or as I like to call her "turkey neck"...she's so frickin skinny and tall, but has this double chin thing going on....hmm...must be genetic...anyways... she's always nasty to me and speaks with this sarcastic condescending tone of voice..(maybe her husband cheats on her...who knows).....As of right now I'm passing and my DRT score is good. But for some reason she always tries to single me out. Doesn't matter what it is...if I ask her a question during lecture no less, she acts like I'm disturbing her and always answers in a nasty tone. Because of this I have no respect for her what so ever. The only spanish instructor is no different. She smiles and is nice to your face, but talks behind your back. As a reminder, these are from MY OWN PERSONAL experiences so no one can tell me they aren't true. I've experienced for the past two years of how F**up they can be. The other mousy one is ok...just don't tell her any of your personal business cuz the whole class will know about it in pre or post conference..... Lastly, to anyone who is thinking about applying to this school. Just remember that they are ALL racist...and that they will attempt to tear your self esteem down and make you feel like nothing...especially Big bird. So, just grow some thick skin and keep reminding yourself that there's no obstacle that you cannot overcome..and that you will steam roll anyone who gets in the way of your future. Good Luck!
