Thanks :rotfl:

In reply: Are you talking about St. Francis in Trenton, NJ?

Yes, why do you go there?

I don't go to St. Francis, but I know people who did. I got to MCCC.

How is Middlesex? I just applied there for next fall, and this spring i just registered for A&P I

MCCC is Mercer County Community College. I actually live in Burlington County myself. :-)

I am a St.Francis School of Nursing grad of 1980-It was a tough school to get into, a tough school to graduate out of, we had a few nuns, there still was a dorm but my class was the 1st or 2nd that did not live there, the Medical Center was much smaller than it is today, it was very strick- lots of clinical- you left class at 3pm on monday and walked to the hospital by 5pm to get your patient assignment- you spent hours going through that one chart- copying every thing down dx, meds, PMH, PSHX, labs and studies, you went home and did your care plan- you dared NOT to have EVERY one of those pt's meds looked up and you had better have known them for clinical, you turned in those care plans for a GRADE- the instructor made comments on them in RED ink. Your uniform had to be clean, ironed, girls wore dresses and white stocking and CLEAN white shoes(not sneakers), hair was up off the collar, skirts were at the knee(NO undergarments were to show or you did not go to clinical that day and made it up) you sat up straight and listened up in class. On clinical days- you had 15 min pre-conference you were on the floor at 7am to go to report with the staff nurses, you did your assignment of 1-3 patients- baths, bedpans, made beds, gave meds- if you had a pt with a proceedure/tube (mine was NGT- you had to list everything you needed to insert right down to the safety pin to gown, I WAS TERRIFIED) you went to 1/2 hr lunch, came back and ended at 3;30 went to post conference for 1/2 hour and did the same thing for the next 2 days. EVERYTHING went against your clinical grade- uniform, shoes, etc. Our class was a mix- some right out of high school, older women with grown children, some LPN's and 2 male students. the instructors were awsome- you knew A&P when you graduated- MRS. GRUSSLER. they did not play around- they taught and meant it. You learned bedside nursing. you earned your grade or you did not pass. Our tuition was $2,500/year. WE passed our boards the FIRST time around( the old state board test pool exam/paper and pencil in the OLd Altantic City Convention Center before the casinos came, you needed to get a 350/600 on each 5 sections- medical, surgical, peds, maternity, psych or you did not pass . state boards were only given 2 times/year- July and December and you waited 2 months to see if you passed. AHH, the good old days.

wow, impressive. I received my letter to be on august 2009 waiting list. If I don't get in now I will automatically enter program August 2010. I'm excited! I have a intense feeling that I will get a call to begin now.

I will be starting in August at Saint Francis SON in Trenton. I finished my prerequisites at Mercer County Community College (except for 2 courses). I just went last week to get measured for my uniform. I hear it is a tough program where students learn.

I know you are excited .Iam truly happy for you. when did you get your acceptance letter. As for me they told me that every year at the end of July several people turn down the invitation due to family issues and if they do I would be considered. I hope to see you soon. Let me know how things go! BEST WISHES.

Thanks. I hope you are able to get a spot for this August. Best of luck.
