Hello,
I am starting at St, Francis School of nursing in august. Are there any others out there that will be attending too? Also, I would love to hear from any students who currently attend on how they liked the program.
Thanks :rotfl:
To Philanurse 74: How did you feel when you got on the floor for the first time as a new grad? - I noted you have med/surg on your post. Did you feel more confident as na new grad coming from a diploma /St. Francis SON than had you gone to a 4 year BSN? How did you find the transition? (Student to employed nurse) I'm very interested in knowing. I don't recall having all the anx'es that alot of new grads are having today. We of course didn't have the lack of jobs to deal with and overall, I felt very well prepared. I didn't have any of the taking state board panic (felt pretty confident), had a realistic idea of what nursing/hospital was- I knew there were bedpans, body excrement to clean, IV's and proceedural stuff and difficult/mean doctors. Our choices ( as all Nurses back then in the 1980's) were not what they are today. We realized from the git go that nursing was not a GLAM job. Would love to here your input.
I recieved a letter last month stating that I will start august 2010. I attended the open house last week. I was very impressed and I'm still excited.
In your post you said you were wait listed for this month's start at St. Francis. Have you heard anything yet about whether you will be able to start in the end of the month?

You know what's funny? I graduated last year and things are pretty much the same as in 1980, except girls can wear pants now. Loved the old school discipline. Loved the school, actually. I think even Mrs Grussler was there still, although I didn't have her for any classes. Trenton holds a special place in my heart because of St. Francis SON.
