Where to start for prep

Nursing Students NCLEX

I registered for my NCLEX and I am so ready to study and prep for it, but don't know where I want to start. I was thinking about starting with a 75 question baseline test with my program I have installed, then just do 75 questions per day until the week of the test. And while doing questions I will use my review book for weak areas. Just doesn't feel like its enough or maybe Im just overthinking it.

The school I came from has very high pass rates usually 98-100%. We were told to complete at least 3000 questions before testing. So if you have 30 days, that would be 100 questions a day. Always make sure you read and understand the rationales. I would also suggest finding time to take a 265 question test in a test-like environment to prepare you in case you get all 265 on test day.

I was thinking 100 just thought it would be over kill LOL. Thanks for the reply diamond_girl!

100 is a good number to stick with :) no problem!

Did you take the NCLEX yet diamond_girl?

Yep!! I took it on 1/25 this year, and passed the first time with 78 questions!

Oh good congratulations lady!!

I haven't tested yet, but I am doing the Hurst review and can't say enough good things about it. If you feel you need a content refresher I would recommend Hurst, if you need strategies and critical thinking practice I would recommend Kaplan- both reviews come with great practice tests. I also would recommend buying Lacharity: Practice, Delegation and Assignment--I LOVE this book!!

Just to second everyone else- do LOTS of questions! I started at 75 per day and increase by 10 every few days so I don't become overwhelmed. Happy studying!!

Thanks bas22 I will be doing 75 per day to start off then increase. I will be using NCLEX 4000 and my Saunders book a=with the HESI NCLE book. I wont be purchasing any other resources it will be too much for me to cover. I cant deal with that many sources. LOL

I hear ya!! I wish I would have realized that earlier.I went a little crazy with resources when I started (I was feeling ambitious)- my God it was out of control!! I was overloaded, overwhelmed, unproductive and broke.

If you want to challenge yourself with really good critical thinking questions and gauge where you are try Kaplan- they have a FREE practice test on their website and you can find their Q-trainers online for free. Those who have taken NCLEX say Kaplan questions are the closest to NCLEX questions. :)

OH ok bas22 I will check out that practice test and the Q-trainers thanks a lot..........
