Test cut off at 75 questions

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

This is my second time taking the NCLEX. The first time it cutoff at 165 and I failed. Today it cut off at 75 and I don't know what to think.

Did I fail so bad that it wouldn't give me more questions to redeem myself or did I actually pass? Does anyone know the statistics of people passing or failing with 75 questions?

I really don't want to go through this a third time.

I'm also stuggling with if I should try the "pearson vue trick" or just wait the 48 hours and pay the $8 for quick results.

Thanks for your input!

Waiting for results seems like forever today. If you were getting harder questions when test cut off at 75, good indication of passing per our member reports. Best wishes to you!

I passed the second time with 75 questions. You are probably fine. Don't worry until you get the results.

Hello,

I took the NCLEX for the first time last week and my exam also cut off at 75 questions.

I had to answer a lot of SATA questions (like 30-40) so I was like 90% sure that I had failed.... but I did pass.

Did you try the Pearson VUE trick? It worked for me...

Good luck!

Since the exam shut off at 75, the only thing you can conclude is that you either did consistently well or consistently poorly... and the test attempt is done. While it's quite nerve-wracking, you probably should wait the 48 hours to do the Quick Results because that will be as close to 100% accurate as to pass/fail as anything. If you have $200 ready to spend on another attempt, wait at least 24 hours before you try the new PVT because there's a (very slim in your case) that you could score a "fail" and still actually pass, and that results in you donating $200 to Pearson Vue as your exam may not have been scored that 2nd time. Remember that the 2nd scoring is the definitive one.

My advice: kick back, relax and enjoy the next couple of days because NOTHING you do will affect the outcome of the exam you just took and save your $200 and just pay the $8. It's what I would have done if the new PVT had been set up at the time I'd taken the NCLEX... and if California participated in QR.

I agree with the last post , pay the 8 bucks, I took took the test day before thanksgiving and I waited to do the trick until a day after so I could have some fun. I didn't know about the new trick so I did the old one and failed as I thought and then I checked the nursing board website on dec 2nd and there was my name with a RN license, so please do the quick results as the trick may trick u..
