  1. My school is almost 800 kids, grades PK-5th My office is towards the front of the school, next to the main office but not connected to it. I have a desk area and a clinic area with 3 beds and 2 small benches at the foot of the beds. I have 6 daily meds and one type 1 diabetic with no pump. And I can see anywhere from 20-80 kids a day. Just depends on the season and honestly how tired the teachers are of kids asking to go to the nurse. :)
  2. Good morning everyone! Here's a little back story......... I am a new nurse who graduated last year. I took the first job that was offered to me which was as a school nurse at an elementary school. Its been okay; the schedule has been nice, but I'm not getting challenged enough. I want to be able to use my skills and knowledge that I worked so hard for. But instead I'm just handing out peppermints and band-aids. So, I began applying to hospitals all over the DFW area. RN positions and GN programs. And it was rejection after rejection because of my lack of experience. BUT I finally got selected for an interview! I know I don't have the job yet, I'm just so thankful! The position is for a GN Residency Program in the Emergency Department. I am thrilled because I absolutely loved my rotation through the ED during school. My question is, do you have an interview tips? Tips in general or specific to the job, whatever you think might be helpful! I suspect it will be panel interview, but other than that I am completely at a loss and have no idea what to expect! Sorry for the long post! Thank you in advance for your help! :)
  3. I've had my license for about a month now and this whole past year I've been working in a elementary school as a school nurse. They hired me without a license and I worked under another nurses license until I got my own. And now that I do have my RN, I've been constantly applying to hospital jobs. I'm desperate to get back to bedside, acute care nursing. I didn't think I would miss it this much. My problem is not knowing where I want to be its getting there....... I've applied to so many internships and residency programs its ridiculous. Not to mention all the other general nursing jobs that I am constantly getting automated rejection emails from. Is there anything I can do to help me stand out? Or do i just have to keep applying and hope that one day I'll get an interview? I meet all the qualifications except hospital experience, but how can I get that if i can't even get an interview? Thank you for your time and answers :)
  4. Yeah I'm pretty sure they did all the background checks and reviews beforehand. I read somewhere they update Tuesday's and Thursday's, but I wanted to make sure! Thank you for your answer!
  5. Okay. After my third attempt, 265 questions and $7.95 I have my quick results and I finally passed! Now my question is when will my name and license number show up on the Texas board of nursing website? I took my test this past Thursday 8/13/15. Thank you!!!
  6. This is my second time taking the NCLEX. The first time it cutoff at 165 and I failed. Today it cut off at 75 and I don't know what to think. Did I fail so bad that it wouldn't give me more questions to redeem myself or did I actually pass? Does anyone know the statistics of people passing or failing with 75 questions? I really don't want to go through this a third time. I'm also stuggling with if I should try the "pearson vue trick" or just wait the 48 hours and pay the $8 for quick results. Thanks for your input!
