Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone! I'm taking my NCLEX exam this February 13 and I enrolled to Kaplan and my classes will be starting this Jan 9. I'm kinda lost coz there are a lot of unfamiliar medications and I'm scared I might fail. Could anyone please spare me some advice or techniques on how to review and is Kaplan really good? I'm here at New York by the way, so I hope there are nurses out there who have the taken the NCLEX here so I have somebody I can relate to. And I'm 2 years post BSN. I'm really desperate ! Thank you and Happy New Year.

Thabks bw I can do it and I will.

You all will do it. I took mine dec 31 2012 and passed. I used Kaplan for my questions, and Saunders for content.

Good luck guys

I too hope that we will pass and become awesome RNs February 2013!!!! I'm doing the Kaplan 5 week study plan. I started jan 1st. I do 100 qbank questions daily, read each rationale and review any content or disease process I'm unsure of. I've also started to review the study guide that floating around. And I study 5 out of 7 days. I have qtrainers 6 and 7 left to do and the sample questions. I have like 200 qbank questions left but my plan is to go through all of the incorrect questions again.
Hey how is the studying going febrauary has arrived how are you feeling?

Hey everyone so February has arrived already:nailbiting: how is the studying going, do you guys feel prepared? unfortunately for me i have took kaplan trainer 7 and scored 63%. I do not feel like I'm prepared for this test! I'm also getting tired of studying and looking at this stuff. I see other posts of people failing using kaplan then I see other people trainer scores that are better than mines pass...its really discouraging...sighs..I'm just a nervous wreck:dead:

Studying is going well. I made 63% on Kaplan qt 6 and I'll take 7 tomorrow. My qbank avg is 61% with 100% complete. I'm not sure exactly how I feel.., sometimes confident then nervous one moment and ready to get it over with the next!

Im doing all I can and I just pray that next week all of my hard work will pay off and I'll be an RN!!!!! What about you, how are u feeling?!?!

Bw2012, the most important thing to do is remain positive and believe in urself!!! We can do it!!!!

I take my NCLEX RN on Friday the 1st. I got a 69% on QT 6 and a 63.something on QT 7. My Kaplan instructor said aim for a 60% on 6 and 7 because they are harder. My Qbank average is 70% with 100% done. Getting extremely nervous. Less than 48 hrs! Good luck everyone.

Good luck k.durham!!!! In less than 48 hours ull be an RN... How EXCITING!!!!!

You can do it!

I feel like I'm getting anxious as the days goes by. One day I want to move my date up the next I want to keep my date (feb 18th)..one moment I'm like I can do it then the next I'm like what if I haven't prepared enough and I fail. I also have a job on the line so that is more stress its basically an emotional roller coaster for me. I have completed the qbank and all trainers. My qbank avg is 60%. You are right I have to be positive and believe in myself that I'm prepared well enough and will be a RN:yes:

Thanks k.durham same to you. Your scores are good. You will be fine. Let us know how it goes! Goodluck:up:

With regards to your pharmacology concern, the Kaplan book has an amazing pharmacology section. I just passed the NCLEX and i had that same concern before i took the exam. I was so scared because I did not know any pharmacology at all! So what i did was read all of the pharmacology portion in the Kaplan book and used it as my study outline. It shows you that all the medications are classified under certain groups, so just familiarize yourself with the general aspects of each medication group. Know what each group's action and side effects are and then zero in on all the unique medications (you don't need to memorize side effects, adverse effects, contraindications of each medication, remember just get a general sense). The only thing you do need to memorize is the suffixes, which will help you a lot to identify. And for all the meds i didn't know or understood i did a lot of research on those through the internet and also youtube has a lot of great pharmacology videos to help you understand how each medication group works!
