I feel ready to take nclex and yet i dont. Don't know if i studied enough, studied the right material, or the right nclex study guides. I choose Lippincotts reivew. I read the book cover to cover 3x's and took all the tests. I answered every question on the cd...but after some much studiying the guide (and reading the rationales) i got very familar with the Q&A's...I've learned a lot...but does any one think any of the questions will be on the actual nclex?? Should i study a new nclex guide? or just go over my text books--med surg..lab values, pharm etc...I am will ing to work hard and study 8 plus hours daily(which i have been) but i want to make sure I cover the right stuff..Thanks for any tips

I'd get my hands on a Kaplan NCLEX review book. It is wonderful for explaining the actual exam and how to break down the questions that are not familiar topics. You will see things that look completely foreign to you no matter how much you study and it is nice to have that tool Kaplan provides.

Yes, study your labs and pharm. With the pharm though don't study each particular med... but rather the types or categories of meds. know how to break them down by spelling so you can still understand what a drug is used for by it's name. Chances are you will encounter medications that you have never heard of on the NCLEX and they really don't like to offer you any information on it (i.e. what the pt's Dx is or why they are taking the med).

The only other advise I have for you is... take a few days off between now and then and take a laptop with you the night before (if you are staying in a hotel) so you can occupy your mind with Solitaire or FreeCell! Eat fish the night before and take chocolate to snack on during your breaks (TAKE THE BREAKS OFFERED!!!!!!!)

And good luck to you!

No problem Polly! I might also suggest a book that I absolutely loved called Exam Cram NCLEX-RN. It is wonderful. I posted a discription of it in some detail to another poster here. Take a look and then see if you can't find that book as well. There are actually two of them. One is a review format and the other is all Q&A. I had the review one but loved it so much thought about purchasing the Q&A one as well.

Here is a link to it: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/results.asp?WRD=exam+cram%2Drn&z=y&cds2Pid=9481

Be sure to let me know how you do and if you have any other questions I might be able to help you with.

even if you review all the books available one earth, you will not feel ready especially when the test date is getting nearer. Calm down, it is normal. we become a lil bit scared, we cram, we cannot even sleep or eat nor think properly with anxiety. take a deep breath. relax. pray for guidance. you will make it. believe in yourself.

goodluck to u.

PS. i cant make my exam cram CD to work! computer got busted. repaired. everytime i run the cd it kept saying general protection fault and needs to close... sigh...what to do?

leilah75, try going to Dell support even if you don't have a dell program. I have found them to be wonderful at resolving all my computer problems and the best part is THEY ARE FREE!

Good luck and I hope you get your CD to work. It really is wonderful but even if you don't, at least you have the book which I think is even MORE valuable than the CD! You might also try contacting Exam Cram via the internet. If I remember write there is a website listed in the book somewhere.

Good to hear you are so dedicated to studying for the nclex. I took my last week. I felt like throwing up afterwards because I felt I didn't know any of the answers. I studied from Saunders nclex review, and didn't really feel it helped. I am not trying to be discouraging, but think you need to be aware that at some point you need to stop studying and take the test. I passed and was extremely happy, but it was the hardest test I have ever taken. Good luck and best wishes.

Since you have two weeks I'd buy two weeks worth of access to NCSBN's review and concentrate on that!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!
