Romanian graduate nurse taking Nclex-Rn

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone:)

I graduated from nursing school in Romania, and then I moved in the U.S; after a long process of having my degree evaluated I'm finally able to take the Nclex-Rn. I took it twice so far and unfortunetly failed both times. As you probably know the nursing program is totally different from Romania, and as hard as I am trying to study on my own is like starting all over again. My weak section is pharmacology, so I was wondering if anyone out there can help me with this...any advise on how to memorize the medication and their side effects?(this is a very important section on passing the Nclex-Rn). Because, it took so long to get my degree evaluated my school is expiring in Aug, this summer and if I don't pass the Nclex, I'll have to go back to school:(( Thank you all!!

Hi,you will easily find a job as a nurse here, but first you need to get your degree evaluated by company that the state you are going to live in works with. There are a lot of money and paperwork involved, then you have to pass an english test, TOEFL, and after that you will be able to take the NCLEX which you need to pass so you can practice in the States. Romanian Nursing school is different than here... I decided to go back to school and start all over again. If you need more information let me know:)

Hi! I got my degree evaluated by CGFNS, so I don't know much about CES. It's just hard to do all that paperwork from here:( I decided to go back to school and start nursing all over again, the knowledge I already have is going to help me a lot in school. I do know that nursing school in Romania expires after 3 yrs if you don"t practice. I believe you will have to take a class in the States including clinical hours in a hospital to be able to take the NCLEX again, I failed 3 times and my time expired also:(

Hi There,

I'm a Romanian graduated nurse. I finished scoala post liceala sanitara (sanitary post secondary school 3 years) and I would like to ask if anyone know what is the equivalent degree in the states is Associates or Bachelor degree.

Thank you

Hi Cristina,

I'm Romania too and I graduated form "Scoala post lieceala Secundara" in Bucharest. I live in NY and I'm going to study here as well. I was wondering what is the equivalency our degree from Romania in the USA. How did you enroll to such a programm would you advice?

Thank you...

It's going to be an Associates after you pass your boards.

It's a long process, but after you get your licence and credentials evaluated by CGFNS, they will submit the approval to the state you want to apply for nursing, then you pay the fees for NCLEX Rn and schedule a time for your test. Good luck!

Hi Zazutza,

thank you for reply, how did you find out that is associates degree? Would you adviced me how to process?

I had my nursing evaluation through CGFNS and when I received a copy of my evaluation it was equivalent to an Associate degree here. Everything you need to know is on their website, they do requir documentation to be sent from your school in Romania. Unfortunately nursing school in Romania expires after 3 yrs of not practicing over there. In order for you to renew your licence, you will have to go back and practice for 6mo I believe, so if it has been a while since you graduated, you might not be able to get your licence evaluated, you need a valid licence for CGFNS to start processing your evaluation. I hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Hi Zazuta

Thank you so much for reply. I acctually had my credentials verified by cgfns but they never told me what they told you...

When did you graduate from Romania? If you were able to pass the nclex? I would like to transfer my credits to a nursing school here are they accepting to transfer credits?

Hi, I graduated in 2005 from Scoala Postliceala Sf Iosif in Bucharest. I had my licence evaluated a couple of years ago and it said first level nurse which means associate. I was also looking around and asking about the equivalency and I ended up calling my state of boards. I took Nclex last year and didn't pass, but i am taking again in a couple of weeks and I hope it works out this time. In the mean time I got a job in a hospital as a nursing assistant and this helps me a lot with my studying. I work in the ER and I see a lot of cases and procedures. Nursing schools will not take any of your credits, so you have to start from the begging doing your pre reqs, then take Hesi and then apply for a nursing program, which you probably know is very hard to get into nursing school here.

Hi, Oh really, I can't believe they won't accept our credits, how do you know that nursing schools will not take any of our credits? To go back from screch this is insane. For which board are you appliying?

It's good that you started working in er that is going to be a good refrence in case you get a nurse job.

I live in Michigan, so I applied for Michigan State Board of Nursing. I went to our community college here and I asked if they will take any of my credits and they said no. I also called a couple of online schools and got the same answer. For the last couple of years I took several classes at the community college trying to build up my pre reqs just in case I will have to go back to school and start all over. I also forgot to mention that in order to apply for you state board of nursing you will have to pass English as a second language and each state has a different score of passing. The results from there and the evaluation from CGFNS will be sent to the state you are applying for and then you will get you approval to test. After that you go to pearson vue website and pay the $200 fee for nursing rn then wait for their email to receive your authorization to test and then you can schedule your test. If you pass your boards and you want to go for a BSN later on then you might get some credentials but I have not research that yet..
