Question about applying to the BON/NCLEX...timeframe?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I'm graduating from my Nursing program in early May (in Ohio), but an applying for a Florida license, as well as taking the exam in Florida. Do i need to wait to i graduate to start the application or can i slowly start to gather all the pieces and send them in as i get them? EX: I need to be electronically fingerprinted in FL, the only time i can do that is mid-march, or two weeks after graduation....should i go ahead and submit my appplication now, fly down in march to get my prints done, then send my transcipts in may when i finish the program??

any info would help :)

I submitted my stuff to my board of nursing about 3.5 months before I graduated. I was "pending" about 2 months before I graduated. I received my ATT 25 days after I graduated and I am taking the NCLEX 20 days after receiving my ATT.

Hi Steph001

I am in the same process; an out of state student applying for the Florida NCLEX. I called the BON this week and they told me to wait until I have graduated from the program so I can send in transcripts. I am not sure if there was a miscommunication or if the person there really wanted me to wait until May. I feel like I need to get the ball rolling, and can send an the transcripts in May. All my classmates are applying now for their boards...it feels odd to wait. What are you doing? I am sure I have more questions. Let me know how the process is going for you.

PS - you can get the finger prints done out-of-state, if need be.
