Ive heard from a friend that nclex has audio test format like you are going to ask and listen in to auscultation findings and identify, can you verify if it is true

My Kaplan teacher told us that right now, these questions are pilot questions and not graded.

It is true. Starting in April of 2010 the new format began. There is an increase in percentage of medications that you will be asked as well as they are testing the new "audio" format. If you receive an audio question it does not count against you as of right now. They are just testing tha format out right now. However, Kaplan instructors told my group that they will count in the future just not sure when. I took NCLEX-RN two days ago and didn't have any audio questions. Had 87 questions and found out about an hour ago that I passed!!! My PVT had the good pop up as well :-) Good luck to everyone!

You may or may not get those type of questions. I didn't luckily.

The new format is discussed on the NCSBN website. Since this has been in place since April, the new format should be addressed in schools and review courses by now.

My buddy took his 7/12, he got an audio question, took mine the 7/14 and didn't get anything

Is this new format just for the RN or is it for the LPN as well????

It's true, I had 25% SATA 25% priority and delegation 14% mental health 20% pharm 26% mix peds and medsurge, among those 1 listen to 2 exhibit charts, and no med calc.

Had to listen to 1 thing... Just be aware of ur lungs/ heart sounds and you can listen to them on YouTube, ve aware of the abnormal in diseases, they will not have u tell whiter if it is a s3 or 4 so don't freak out... More like irregular patho sounds, crackle, wheeze, afib, things there are associated to disease processes.

Yes, for LVN nclex test they have it too. Hope i won't get it when i take my test on Sept.

It's not bad, you have been listening to all of them during clinicals! Refresh on YouTube

Wow ok so these were the changes made in april.. well thanks for the information but i was looking at the Lpn test plan on NCSBN and the new changes were not applied as of yet.. The test plan is still under the 2008 test plan [During the administration of the NCLEX-PNĀ® examination candidates will be required to respond to items in a variety of formats. The majority of the items are multiple-choice, but there are other formats. All item formats may include charts, tables, or graphic images.]

[The RN format During the administration of the NCLEX-RN examination candidates will be required to respond to items in a variety of formats. These formats may include, but are not limited to: multiple choice, multiple response, fill-in-the-blank calculation, drag and drop, and/or hot spots. All item types may include multimedia, such as charts, tables, graphics, sound and video.] I think i will call just to make sure.
