NCLEX Woes & Worries-HELP

I need help... last Mon. night my daddy went to the ER w/chest pains. Turned out to be an MI. They did the heart cath and also found an aneurysm just below the level of the heart. They did the stent on Fri. and will remove the aneuysm on Mon. The problem is this - since he's been in the hospital it has been CRAZY around here. I've hardly had ANY time to study or barely even look over my notes. Daddy will be in ICU for 2 days after the surgery on Mon.

Should I go ahead with my plans to take NCLEX on Wed Aug 20th? Would you? I'm terrified, I'm stressed. I'm afraid NOT to go ahead and take it. My gut feeling is to go ahead and take it and get it over with. I've been trying to study when I have a spare moment or do some practice questions, but it's been almost impossible.

Please... any advice would be appreciated. School stress was NOTHING compared to this..... :o

You know I usually tell people to go with their gut feelings. But in this case, I don't think so. You have a lot on your plate right now, and maybe you can take the stress and do well on the NCLEX anyway. But I believe most of what we achieve is directily linked to our frame of mind.

In your post I hear panic, and I think sometimes we push ourselves to go over the top, because we feel we just want to get it over with. And maybe it will lighten our load a little. I think it would better to reschedule, and take the time you feel you need to be ready for this next challenge.

I maybe totally wrong, and if you take the test as scheduled I wish you much success...:).

wow.. amazing how God works things out.... My daddy wound up not having surgery yesterday. WHen they went to thread the catheter into his spinal cord, the CRNA or Anesthesiologist (or whomever) made a boo-boo... and the Dr. said it was too risky. They'll try again in 3wks... SO... I studied the wknd, got LOTS of prayer and wow.. I feel so good about tomorrow! I was SO close to cancelling my appt., but now I'm fired up & ready to go! :D
