NCLEX today, stress is not over!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

1/17/12: took the NCLEX today after spending the last three weeks preparing- spending all day studying, 8am-6

pm. I did over 4000 questions from multiple sources. Completed the entire Kaplen Q-bank in 5 days, did Davis and LaCharity. My kitchen table looked like I was still in nursing school!!! I tried to think of all that I did not know- in the scope of nursing practice that left me clueless as to what to focus on. I did the best I could.

During the test I kept looking at the number of questions, 45, 60, 70 and then 75, hit next and the test was over.... all I could think was this was it, the culmination of all I have given to be an RN, based on 75 questions. I was overcome with emotion, shed a few tears and walked out stunned.

I drove home and did the Pearson Vue trick- and got the "good" pop up, still not sure even after all that I have read if it really works, I tried it again 12 hours later, and will keep trying until my name is on the CA BRN site (no quick view available). This entire journey to become a RN is like holding your breath- and waiting to exhale, from the prerequ classes, to being accepted into program, to passing each and every test during nursing school, the NCLEX and lastly finding a job. Please I hope that I have only one more step to complete (finding a job)!!! Thanks for letting me vent- !!

Congrats OP!!:yeah:

I laughed when you said you had books all over your kitchen table - I'm scheduled to take NCLEX 1st week in February and my books are all over the house! I completed the Kaplan class and am doing my Qbank questions, have the LaCharity book, and am trying to go back over my class notes (is trying to go over notes just too crazy?!!).

I did very well in RN school and am getting high 60's to an occasional low 70 on Kaplan but am getting panicked that there is just too much info to review. Did you ever get over this feeling? Also, how did you feel the level of difficulty of NCLEX questions were compared to Kaplan? Did you even try to tackle all of Kaplan's meds?

Lastly, did you just stick to "the basics" or study any of the critical care stuff (vents, IICP monitoring, EKGs - beyond the basics...). I'm asking because I haven't yet come across those type of questions on Kaplan.

Thanks for any advice & congrats again!

Congrats, you passed!!! I was the same way, I wouldn't believe it until I saw my name on my BON website. Congrats again!!!

Omg! You seriously stated everything that has been on my mind!! congrats I really hope the pop up works!!

Nursing has really been a journy.. from beginning to now, I also took nclex January 17 I had been buried in my books for two week, lots kaplan qts, Saunders, lacharity, and yes old notes as well.. now waiting to see my results, I got the good pop up.. Just skeptical to fully celebrate... then the final step like you said shall be the JOB!!

I get emotional when i see my books piles of notebooks and folders, all the hard work that we nursing students put that leads to this moment.. It really is a journey not just for me but my family as well.. I took my sister, brother and parents on a stress rollar coster.. I always underestimated myself even in school... Id say I don't think i can do this then out of no where id surprise myself on how much I can actually handle.. Just crazy.

I really thought i had failed nclex it stopped at 75!! It was crazy hard but that good pop up has me at some peace. Just want it to be official.
