NCLEX Review

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi I am speaking because I'm very sad. I graduated from nursing school last oct 2013. I took my Nclex pn and failed. My school is using ati and I don't know if that will help me the second time around. I tried kaplan and could not get the decision tree down. Do anyone know what review that I can get into that will prepare for my state boards? I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you so much

I don't know if Hurst has an NCLEX-PN review. I think NCSBN does. NCSBN'S REVIEW FOR THE NCLEX-PNĀ® EXAMINATION V7.0.1 - Students - NCSBN Learning Extension The key to NCLEX success is to know your content and practice NCLEX type questions.

If you have the Saunders book chapter 5 has the test taking strategies and thats what helped me when answering questions.

Thank you so much. I will get the Saunders book. I remembered that book from school. It helped me a lot.

Hurst has a review for PN students. They just emailed me something's, but I need to go over my content and study how to answer the Nclex style questions. Thank you so much for answering my questions. I will also check out the website you are referring too.

Mind you, it's been some time since I took the NCLEX but I think they purposely write their questions to fluster the test taker. I don't remember the test guide I used but it had you focus on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and Safety. Questions could be tricky because of the information listed however they want to know you can see through all of that and make a safe decision. Use the process of elimination "POE" and eliminate the two absolute wrong answers. Watch for words that will throw you off such as: some off, all of, at least, etc. You need to know how to prioritize and why, and how to delegate and what should be delegated.

That's what I did. I took it last month. Very tricky wording. Once you get past all the fluff and eliminate, you can definitely pass.

OP I used Saunders the newest edition which is red, and kaplans strategy book for PN.

Yes I think I just have to not be so nervous and take my time. I am looking for a live review. I went to a horrible nursing school so I want to make sure I know my content. I have not been out of school very long but I just want to get this out the way and get on with my life. Just trying to make sure I do the best I can the second time around.

I took a live review and it didn't help at all. The study guides were more helpful. Our school paid for this and it focused on lab values, etc. and not on prioritization, delegation, Maslows...nada.

I think Hurst is supposed to be really good for content. Do the Hurst live review and then purchase the kaplan online q bank to practice questions. Posting tips I jotted down from my kaplan live review class.
