Michigan nclex 265 fail

I have taken the nclex and failed with 265. After getting the credit card page on pvt I cried for 2 days. However, for those of you who haven't gotten results yet....there are many people who pass with 265. Nobody hears about the people who get 265. In school we always hear about 75 and out. But yes you can pass. Here's my story...I did Kaplan and got an average of 60% on both QT and Q bank. I went in with the mindset of 75 questions which is a huge mistake. When I hit 150 I freaked. After 265 I had a huge feeling that I failed only because I had a mindset of 75 and that's it for passing anymore than that you fail. I did the pvt only after 3 hrs after I took the exam and it was letting me go to the cc page. This still works even now. Log on and if you get any pop up saying you can't register you pass, if it lets you go to the cc page you failed. It sucks and yes everyone seems like they are passing besides you but there is a reason why you can retake it. In Michigan you just have to log on to pearson vue and pay 200$ and then they will send you another ATT. It doesn't matter if your ATT is still in valid dates you still need another new one. You must wait 45 days from your sit date and then you can take it again. I am doing hurst review due to the many good things I hear about it. Your not alone if you fail. You can pass at any number. Friends of mine have passed at 265,110,126, and of course 75. Pray for me on the second time I take it in aug! Also want to add that many people think if you get a lot of select all that apply you are passing....so wrong. I got many SATA in the first 75 and throughout the 265 and still failed. Don't read into the type of questions just answer the questions.

So I took the nclex for the second time and did the pvt and got the credit card page once again. I ended up taking the HURST review this time. I believe that this review was better for me, however, I only got 100 questions this time. I am taking advantage of their 45 day remediation and going to hopefully pass on the third time. It is very depressing seeing everyone pass if not on their first try they pass on the second. I am trying to stay strong but it is hard.

i agree its hard but u got alot sata it means u fought .......u were not under minimum competence in whole test thats why u were in the whole game its ok my frnd we will do next time come up n kill the nclex monster n we will win the battle.....

Don't give up and be discourage, I know you can do it and pass the nclex. I myself wil be taking my second attempt this sept. I'm so scared and nervous, but I need to keep going forward til I pass my board. God bless and good luck. Always pray to God and ask for guidance, wisdom and knowledge.

Don't give up. Take some time off (a week or so) before hitting the books. I graduated with a BSN eons ago and have decided to go at it again. I had to conduct an in-depth self-evaluation to determine my deficiency. I took the NCLEX RN in June 2010 and failed. This time around, I'm giving myself plenty of time to study and my study pattern is as if I'm back in school again. I have notebooks filled with notes from NCSBN review and other resources. I find it helps me retain the information better when I write down what I read. I have flip charts hanging in my dining room with lab values, toxicity levels, therapeutic levels, etc. Since I see it everyday, therefore, it's easy for me to remember without having to memorize.

Read the very first few pages of any NCLEX RN books. There's great information on test-taking strategies. Initially, I ignored these pages or simply breezed through it, not really taking into consideration how equally important comprehending test-taking stragegies.

Ask yourself the following questions:

1. Are my review materials conducive to my method of learning? for example, I had a difficult time grasping or rather comprehending saunders as it was a little overwhelming for me. I utilized hurst book and hurst online review over and over again to liven up my gray matters. After going through hurst, I was finally able to read and comprehend saunders and other resources.

2. Am I lacking in content knowledge or test-taking strategies? well, in my case, I realized I was truly deficient with regards to content. Therefore, no matter how comfortable I was with test-taking strategies, I still had trouble narrowing down the answer choices due to lack of content. I attended a live kaplan class (taught mostly test-taking strategies and not content) which I think is beneficial once I've mastered content.

3. Am I truly grasping concepts or is my brain simply trying to recall? I can read, read, read all day long and blurt out the answer. But with nclex, knowing the "why's", "how's" and "why not's" are critical in my opinion.

Good luck to you!

@madel0119: thank you! I appreciate your prayers!

So I am taking the nclex in 2 days and I feel prepared. This will be my third time taking it. Instead of doing tons of questions and reading over tons of content, I really focused on why the 50 questions a day I was doing were correct. Even if I knew the question/answer I still took a few minutes to really look and see if I knew why that was correct and why the other answers were wrong. Knowing why really helped me get more correct. Pray for me as your reading this and I hope to come back and let everyone know that I did pass boards!

@jaz1989 I know that people like us who want something so bad will never give up on what we want to do. I hope you had passed your second time!

Took 3rd time nclex today. 265 once again. Get results in 48hrs. Post with results then.
