Just ordered NCSBN course review

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Having the option to choose from a variety of review courses I finally decided to choose NCSBN course review.

The two main reason for choosing the latter one was the prize (although I would love to purchase the the Kaplan Qbanks I cannot afford around 500 dollars since I arleady purchased at least three NCLEX review books (Saunders fourth edition and Saunders Q&A in both the regular format and flash cards!) I also bought very expensive Judy Miller Cds (850 dollars ) which is great for the content and review. So I am literally broken in every sense. However I wanted to have an access to the newest questions so I thought that the site which makes the NCLEX would be a right place for it (my second reason) I came across on allnurses some positive comments about NCSBN.

I literally have so much of NCLEX material that I could open my own NCLEX review class. Haha, just a little of humor ... but seriously those of you who took the NCSBN review did you feel it helped you in some way to get through NCLEX? Anyway, I will update and let you know how is the review, and in mean time please share your thoughts if you are not to busy studing for NCLEX, good luck to us all!!!

Summit09, I would say either keep using what you have, the Kaplan and Saunders if you feel comfortable with them and are getting enough practice. You could get the NCSBN and easily go through the practice quizzes and Q&A tests between now and the test date. THe only reason to move the test date back is if you wanted to read all the NCSBN content. I am not finding the content as helpful as doing their practice quetions! Hope this helps!

Thanks so much, summit09! Do you have any idea of how I can schedule myself to pass this exam? Please what is the "susan's plan"? I need help from someone please.

Do you think I should go for the kaplan preparatory classes or jut get the book with the CD? pls list the books you recommend together with the NCSBN.

Thanks

nneoma, I took the Kaplan class but if i were you I would just get the Kaplan book with the CD and do the NCSBN. They recommend doing 4,000-7,000 practice questions before taking the exam. hope this helps.

OH my God the questions from alternative style format are so hard,I got most of them wrong terrible....but I love the section on heath promotion and teaching even though I'm not planning to be an OB nurse but I learned so much useful information.

Yea those questions were hard. i've been at a standstill the past 2 days, just cant get motivated. Ive only done 50 qustions yesterday and today. I cant even imagine reading that whole Pharm section. I think Im going to look over my old pharm book. My test is two weeks from today!!! OH NO

Yeah I havent study too much as well for the past two days...yesterday I was planning to study like all day but the internet line was down so I was doing Saunders CD-content area pharmacology (mostly I learned chemo drugs) and today my plan is to finish health promotion (right now I'm doing number 47) and take a post test as well as 2 Qbank tests....I'm still waiting for my authorization test,I pray to God I can still enroll sometime in July.

What kind of nurse you want to be?How is your job searching??????Are you looking before passing the NCLEX?

Yea I lose internet a lot out where I live. Thats good that you are reviewing chemo drugs, we didnt go over any of them in school so that is something i should take a look at. Well I started looking at jobs in November and got hired in January at the University of Maryland Medical Center. I'm starting out on a Medical/Infectious Disease floor so it should be exciting. I start my job sometime in August.

Wow that is awsome,is this sort of like a teaching hospital? That is a great floor to start on,I would like to start off by working in med-surg,I havent been intensively looking for a job but I do have a list of hospitals that hires new graduate nurses so I need to start applying there!!!

wohhoo God is good:))) I received my authorization to test today!!!! I just send in my fingerprints tuseday and I was expecting to get my ATT in two weeks but everything was proceeded so fast ,God I'm totally freaking out and I dont know which date to choose...I'm not even half way done with the NCBSN,I will you keep posted which date I selected!!!!

Ok I registered for August 12...the reason I didnt want to register for July is that I would have to drive to a different state and I want to take additional time to prepare for the NCLEX

I think I will order the NCBSN since it seems to be getting positive reviews. I've been using the Saunder's book which has been great and the NCLEX 4000. So hopefully NCBSN would be helpful as well!
