This web site helped me pass the nclex PN exam, but I have failed the Nclex RN 3 time now and I don't know what to do. I need a private tutor but I don't even have the money to pay for a private tutor.

Please help me know how to answer these questions :( I really don't know what I need to do the fourth time am taking this exam

I have used Sanders and Kaplan all the three times and I know the answers to the questions that I don't think I can use them any more.

I have got 265 questions for the three times and the results all say am close to passing which does not even help me. I really don't know what am doing wrong.

Please help me tell me what helped you pass the 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th etc times

Maybe you should try something different, like HURST or ATI. Trying studying the areas that you are weakest in and go back to the basics.

There are also a lot of free resources out there. ******* is one.

I agree with Que! I used Saunders, Kaplan, Hurst and ATI and I passed my NCLEX-RN the first time 140 questions. Don;t give up. Have a strong study plan and stick to it! Good luck!

I feel your pain believe me I had a fear of failing it multiple times but always have hope and faith. IF you're able to pass the PN then you're able to pass the RN, remember that. It just takes time and patience. I noticed that you used both Saunders and Kaplan for all three times. I suggest you used a more challenging book like the PDA book because it really mirrors the NCLEX and it helps with your critical thinking skills. I know for most that Kaplan works for everyone but for me I knew it didn't work. I relied on Kaplan and failed the first time with 75 q's.(I kind of think that Kaplan is overrated in terms of their 100% pass rate, but I think it only works for those who are strong in content, which wasn't me) So I changed my method of studying and knew Kaplan didn't work for me because I need more content. I went back to study Saunders ONLY for content and did PDA for my critical thinking. I also took a shot at Kaplan again doing only the Qtrainers 1-7 and I only did this to gain confidence as I was scoring in the 60s (The first time around my scores were in the 50s). Then I used the kaplan strategy book (the blue thin book) just for strategies alone and additional questions. I would say for the last 2 weeks just focus mainly on the PDA book and do this straight through so you will catch on how to answer these 'higher level' type questions. My scores were pretty low but scores didn't hurt my confidence. I focused on rationales and really understand the 'why' for every question you pick. Believe me this will save you in answering any question by knowing how to answer the 'why.' The NCLEX is not trying to trick us but it wants us to think. I always tell people to respect the test because it isn't easy but it's not difficult either.

Sorry for the long response. I have hope that you will pass too like everyone else and you'll join the RN team :) If you have any questions PM me. I have some of my notes if you like also just to give you a 'push' to study again. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks every one for your advise and support.

Thank you so much every one, will start my studying!

I hope you can find some useful study materials in the following link.

I know how you feel... It took me 3 times to pass my LPN and I have taken it 3 times for my RN. How I ended up passing my LPN is I read "successful test taking- learning strategies for nurses" This is a lippincott book and I have the old one,,,I had taken my LPN in 2002, but you have a disadvantage like myself. Since we are already LPN's we look into the answers and question ourselves too much. New nurse "RN's" fresh out of school with no nursing background seem to do better. I graduated with my RN in 2008 and have not taken the exam in over 2 years cause I'm afraid to fail again, but this time I AM NOT going to study cause I know the info,,, I am going to read for test taking book. Try it, I think it will help you. GOOD LUCK

We can ALL do it!!

I know exactly how you feel. I have failed 3 times as well and I am almost afraid to take it the 4th time. They all say near passing but I cant figure out what I am doing wrong. If you want to study together that would be great. I have just started to reach out after my 3rd time. All of my classmates has passed and has been working for a 1 and 1/2 now. I do not know where to start out at/ I have paid for the test but I have yet to set a date. Please help.

Hi everyone,

I just took my nclex for the 3rd time last week on June 1. I did the trick and the "on hold" pop up came up. I felt a bit relieved, but then a few days later the cc came up :(

I am still grieving right now and trying to move forward and taking it the fourth time.

1st time- 75 ques; 1.5 hrs; studied Kaplan only, in class and used all qbanks and qtrainer. Studied 6-8 hrs per day, 6 days a wk for 30 days. Taken July 2011. cc page came up with the trick.

2nd time- 75 ques; 3 hrs; studied Kaplan - online and scored about 61% on qtrainer and 70's% for qbanks. Studied hurst using book and recorded audio from friend. Studied 6 hrs per day for 6-7 days for 2 months. Taken October 2011. cc page came up with the trick.

3rd time- 106-110 ques; 3.5 hrs; studied Saunders 4th edition- read content for a good 2.5 months, did questions from CD; Kaplan strategy book; PDA; Cram Exam questions on CD; listened to feuer's audio; studied for a good 3 months, 1st month 5-6 hrs per day, 5 days a week; then 9 hrs per day 30 days before my exam; taken June 1 2012. "on hold" pop up :) and still waiting for hard copy results, but the cc page just came up. :(

What I realized is that I second guess myself a lot, right now I am considering a tutor and wondering if you know any for southern california? And any other resources you guys can advise? I have NO idea what to do anymore in terms of studying and getting over this bump in the road. :( HELP!

What is PDA? thanks in advance!
