Hi. Ive been doing kaplan to prepare for NCLEX which is NEXT WEEK...argh....Ive been doing qbank and watching the content videos, which are so long so I just focus on the most important parts...and its so hard to concentrate...

Sometimes at the end of the day, I feel like I didnt learn anything like my whole day went to waste...I have done almost all my qbank and redone some question trainers, but I still feel like I dont know anything...any suggestions...:banghead:

I know that you and I are in the same boat.. without a doubt trying to remember everything you learned in school plus new information is so overwhelming!! When I was on my way to the store today I actually started sobbing in the car just thinking about the NCLEX and how bad I want to pass. A lot of people I graduated with took the NCLEX this week and everyone that I heard of passed. While I'm so happy for them, I keep thinking "ohmygod what happens if I fail?" They all even updated their myspace and it now says "I'm an RN", I'm so jealous!!!

I feel the same exact way at the end of a long day of studying. But to be honest, YOU ARE LEARNING A LOT! Because this isn't like any other test you have taken before, you need to study a different way. I know I'm so used to studying by reading my textbook and looking over notes. However, you'll be studying FOREVER if you study for the NCLEX that way. Just read those rationales and make sure you understand why you got each question wrong. So many people swear by Kaplan that I really think we're doing the right thing!

Also every night before I go to bed I try to think of at least one new thing I learned that day. Will that one new topic be on the NCLEX? Probably not (at least with my luck!) but it all comes together in the long run and you'll realize how much you know!

Studying for this NCLEX has made me bipolar! One minute I'm on top of the world thinking to myself "I wonder if I can move up my date and schedule the test for tomorrow" and then an hour later I'm crying because I think about how litte I know and that it's impossible to pass.

The key is you just have to surround yourself w/positive people, do those questions and read the rationales!! WE CAN DO THIS! Just think- in less than two weeks from now we'll both have "RN" at the end of our name! :nurse:

Best of luck to you and keep me posted!! :loveya:

Lol, I can totally relate to that statement. I take it on July 3rd and just keep studying and studying. We all can do it and become RNs!!

GLAMGAL,

OMG, we are in the same boat...all of my school friends have also updates their facebook and myspace with stuff like, "Im board certified...Im a new RN...,I passed my NCLEX, etc." and Im still stuck studying...Its hard to go over all those QBanks and QT and see the rationales, but I mostly get them wrong because of content...Its so much...I like, you am bipolar during this time. At times I feel like I only have to pass this darn test and I can get a car, go shopping, buy my daughter all the toys she hasnt had cuz were broke, be a GREAT NURSE with a GREAT job,:redpinkhe but then other days I cant sleep thinking what if...??? I get sad and overwhelmed...

I redid some of my QT and the second time around I knew the answers right off the bat...and got a 94%, so yeah I guess something did stick...and that gave me confidence for a while, and then I was thinking Im just memorizing answers to questions and thats what kaplan does and I felt crappy again!!!

Oh, see I am bipolar too.

My friends so say is that KAPLAN IS ACTUALLY LIKE NCLEX...so hope that make us feel better...I just cant wait to get this over with...I wont even be able to celebrate July 4th because I will be wondering if I passed or failed...good luck and I know that someone else understands how I feel...THANKS...keep me posted too...

and to everyone that does feel like this...there will be good days and bad days...but its the bad days that sticks in our minds...sigh...WE CAN DO THIS...and we will too post "I PASSED!!!" in our facebook, myspace, and allnurses.com....:)

Claralon,

I take mine July 2nd... when's yours?? I'm like you.. I took HURST and I've been doing practice questions to no end.. but I still feel like I've forgotten everything I learned in nursing school. I think I'm the first in my graduating class to take boards though - so I'm not having to deal with the "I PASSED!" showing up on myspace/facebook daily... I do know what you mean though.

Good luck and when is your test date??

I'm taking mine July 1st too, but I am in California, so hopefully I know before July 4th...Good luck. How was hurst? I am doing kaplan, but it is impossible to relearn what was learned in nursing school. Where are you taking yours?

I know how you feel Claralon. For me I graduated in 2007 from mount Saint mary's in los angeles. And I couldve been an RN already last year, but I didn't pass it twice. The third time I did everything, read Kaplan and Saunders. Did all the questions on Kaplans QBANK, Saunders and NCLEX RN 3500. I didnt even think that I can retain all that Ive done and read. i went to sleep like I didnt learn anything and I wasted my time. But I took the boards last monday and found out that I pass. I can say that im an RN, and you'll be able to say it too. All you gotta do is believe. You know the material, just remember no matter how prepared you are for the NCLEX RN, it'll still be the hardest youve ever taken. My advice to give you, take the exam next week like you're doing the QBANK. Just practice questions, but the only difference is that you're waking up early and taking it at Pearson. I took it at Anaheim, and the staff was really friendly and supportive. Good luck and hopefully you'll be able to buy whatever your daughter wants =)

dear kris (waitingformyresults)

I also went to mt. st marys college is Los Angeles!!! thanks for the words of encouragement...was the nclex just like qbank...? so far that's what I've heard... congratulations on your career!!!! I'm glad you passed. Were you just nervous the first two times you took it? was kaplan what made u pass or was it positive thoughts...? congrats again :)

Oh yeah, I still remember feeling like that, even years after taking the NCLEX.

The thing is, you don't need to remember all the actual material. You just have to learn how to work the questions and think your way through them.

I'm sure you'll do just fine. Good luck to you!!

hell yeah I was nervous!! LOL. Did you graduated this year or last year? My girlfriend graduated this year, her name was michelle (maybe you know her). I wished I passed last year, I had a job lined up in the ICU at UCLA. I'm probably gonna work most likely at Cedar Sinai. The questions were really close to Kaplan and saunders. I think it was a mixture of both. The kaplan questions really hel[ped me, espcially the NCLEX RN 3500 and Saunders. But for me , it was thinking, I'm gonna pass no matter what. I wrote on a calendar everyday when i did questions what were my percentages, and I could tell whether or not I was doing better. I circled the day I was taking the exam, and then 2 days later I wrote on the calendar," Kris RN!" I wanted to make sure I knew I can do it, and so can you. When you take the boards next week, it eerily looks like the kaplan qbank.so you should already be used to it. Just remember something. It is only a TEST. This test does not reflect on how hard you've worked for 4 years. That's what I told myself. Outta curiousity, what was your final grade for the QTrainer? Let me know how you did, and hopefully it should be " I passed". That's how we Nurses from the Mount roll. LOL If you have any questions or even just to vent, i gotcha. cause I know how it feels.. study hard
