CPR help

If the patient doesn't have a pulse, I would go with compressions first.

They changed it from abc to cab. Circulation first i believe so you start compressions first before airway (breathing) I may be wrong but I believe that was one of the big changes this time around. Google it.

LandD_RN_chica is correct. A few years ago AHA change the order from ABC to CAB. You must have an older version of saunders, because my version uses CAB.

it's CAB..just finished my BLS a week ago..

It's CAB for CPR and ABC for everything else!

ok, saunders says with cpr for nclex pn that you

1- check responsiveness

2- call for help

3- open airway

4- assess for breaths

5- give rescue breaths

6- give compressions

my lipincott however says this

thay are both copy righted for 2012, and obviously there is an issue to follow airway first or circulation first....help!! I know we are going to circulation first now, but both books for the same year say two different things, what do i do for nclex?> It is PN by the way

I noticed that too on the Saunders 4th edition which I'm using as well. It came up in a prioritization question and I put compressions first and then when they told me the first way in order u put I was like reaaaaaally? Feel like it didn't even make sense! How frustrating!!! So I guess everyone is saying is the second way then!?

That would make sense. The 4th edition came out in 2009 and the AHA made the change from ABC to CAB in 2010.

I just took the BLS class last month and its CAB . I get confused too since my saunders book is saying it differently neither I don't know how to approach a question about CPR when it comes to NCLEX exam.
