Can Saunder's CD answers be repeatedly wrong

I continue to see discrepancies between Saunders 4/ed CD on the test questions # 495 versus the Davis drug guide.

Specifically, #495 is asking for the purpose of allopurinol. Saunders answer is to prevent Hyperuricemia. Davis says the Indications for PO are to prevent gouty arthritis and nephropathy. In Davis, the PO, IV Indications section does say tx. of secondary hyperuricemia. This is confusing..?

Can anybody shed some light on this? I would really like somebody to say that there are not that many Medication questions vs. Prioritization que's and I'll just focus on proirity que's.

Thanks!:redbeathe

wecan11,

Hyperuricemia is what causes gout, so the two books are essentially saying the same thing..I hope this helps. I am using the 5th Ed. of Saunders. I am finding it very helpful for alternate item questions, and content in general. Best wishes on your test!:)

Well that is what they call Critical thinking that even if they change the question or reword the question you can actually get what they are pointing at.... 4pancakes is correct if you will see hyperuricemia is one of the s/sx of Gouty arthritis... try to research on that and u will definitely see the answer... read the saunders book.... go to the page where it has a topic about gout....

When you have conflicting info, come up with a method to pick one of the answers and go with it so you don't waste time spinning your wheels. Some people pick the answer from the resource that has the newest publication date.
