Students NCLEX

Published

I am currently enrolled in a BSN program in Indiana, is there a way I can apply to take the NCLEX for my LPN or ADN so I can work while going to school. I currently have 2.5years of school under my belt.

Thanks

If it is possible, does anyone know how I go about contacting the BON to set up a NCLEX date?

Have you tried to contact your state's BON?

Most states want individuals to sit for their NCLEX in an approved program in order to sit for the NCLEX; in this case, it would have to be an approved PN program in order to sit for the NCLEX-PN, and ADN and BSN students sit for the same NCLEX, making the requirement to sit for the NCLEX-RN after your BSN studies.

It depends on your individual program and state whether you can sit for the LPN boards..I would contact your BON. And ADN/BSN take the same boards and have the same scope of practice...both RNs..so you can't sit for that nclex until you graduate with your BSN

Once you have completed a certain amount of your BSN program, you can sit for LPN/LVN boards. Your instructors can help guide you if that is something you are interested in.

As others have indicated, you would have to contact the appropriate BON in your state to help determine if/when you meet equivalent education requirements to be able to take the NCLEX for the LVN/LPN. I would expect that part of that determination is approval from your BSN program. I certainly applaud you for at least choosing to look into this process. Should you choose to pursue LVN/LPN licensure, you'll at least have some idea about how the NCLEX will test you but the exams are different because the scope of practice of an LVN/LPN is different from that of an RN.

As far as taking then NCLEX-RN, well, you'll have to wait for graduation from your BSN Program to be able to do that because the ADN-RN and the BSN-RN both take the same NCLEX exam.
