The bad pop up and a bad feeling.

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I took the exam this morning and about two and a half hours in it shut off around 130 questions. The last four questions I answered were SATA which I don't think anyone is extremely comfortable with but they were also topics I'm not particularly comfortable with so right away I felt awful I went home and sure enough the good pop didn't show. I practiced with Kaplan and my grades ranged from high 50s to high 60s with a 67% on the readiness and from my understanding these grades reflect a relatively good readiness for the NCLEX. Anyway if anyone has gone through a similar experience and managed to pass the second time around and could tell me what they would recommend? I've read something about Suzanne's plan being particularly helpful for first time failures but I understand this plan isn't available anymore. That being said does anyone know of a practice plan similar to Suzanne's and if so could you share it with me and tell me were to find it?

Thanks

Poor girl. But don't be so depressed. You have 50% chance to pass it. Hope can hear ur good news tomorrow.

Poor guy* lol it's ok though honest mistake! I'm holding on to a little hope but I don't think I'm hearing good news tomorrow. Have you taken nclex already? If so how/what did you study?

[COLOR=#003366]Tommo446 I am taking my second attempt end of November! I have been reviewing Hurst notes! I am doing again Kaplan Qbanks my total scores are 62% and it used to be low 40 and 50. I purchased NCLEX Mastrey every topic I study I practice! I hope you hear good new you seems were doing great! stay positive and we all we will pass :)

You said you got "bad pop up". What, exactly, did you see? If you were able to submit your credit card information (meaning, it took your payment), it *most likely* means you did not pass on the first scoring (most people don't realize exam is scored twice within a 24-hr period).

If this is the second time you're taking this exam, and therefore are trying the PVT as it USED to be, you probably got to a screen requesting your credit card information.....and assumed that means failure.

At this time, EVERYONE is directed to the credit card page. It's a $200 gamble, because if your payment is accepted (but you ultimately pass) you WILL LOSE the $200. However, if you failed and got charged.....you were going to have to take it again anyway.

So....what actually happened?

I was brought to the page where you enter your cc info I went as far as the page that said submit payment but I didn't want to click it because I didn't have $200 in my account. Are you saying the pvt is different now and I still may of passed?

It was my first attempt.

This is exactly what I'm saying.

EVERYONE is now brought to the CC page; when PV updated their software at the end of August, the program changed. The "new trick", as people tend to call it, means that you only find "the good popup" AFTER you have entered your credit info.

But please wait a minute!

Since the exam is scored twice, seeing "the good pop up" before a full 24 hours has passed doesn't mean anything. Well, it means that you would have passed the first scoring.

People have been crushed, thinking they failed, because an hour after the exam ended they got did 'the trick' and got a receipt for $200 paid for another exam. BUT if the exam is deemed 'pass' on the second scoring....yes, they DID pass, but lost $200 for no good reason.

So.

If you didn't submit the CC info, you didn't complete 'the trick'.

Does your State participate in Quick Results? If so, you can pay eight bucks but get an OFFICIAL 'pass' or 'fail' after 48 hours. That's one way to find out.

Some people have played the PVT game using a "dead" gift card; a valid card number with no funds attached. Or only a few dollars on it. If your card is declined, it's true that an attempt to charge it was made.....AND IF you have tried this game after waiting a full 24 hours, then it would appear you have failed. If you did it during that 24 hour 'iffy' period, and it tried to charge you (pass or fail not being sure) at least you won't really BE charged.

Is this making sense? It's been a long day for me :)

It was my first attempt.

Someone here said you had a 50% chance of passing; that couldn't be more off base.

For US educated nursing students, the NCLEX pass rate for first-time test-takers is 91%. Pretty good odds in my book :D

I will be paying for quick results tomorrow still feel very uneasy about the entire exam in general but this does give me some hope. Thanks for providing some hope. I'll post when I get my official results!

I'll keep hoping right along with you :)

QR are available 48 hours after completion time of the exam.

Good luck!
