Australian nurses taking NCLEX exam

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

i'm in melbourne and studying to take the nclex before we move to the usa next may.

as the only testing centre is in sydney, i also have to spend the night there before sitting for the exam.

i have been reading the kaplan book, testing with the nclex 4000 and i am so discouraged already.

it appears a lot of nursing in the usa is different including what is sometimes classed as a priority.

i have 2 pharmacology books which i am hoping to know off by heart

i have also ordered 4 other books.

i am wondering how people in other countries are expected to pass when we do not know general policies and who is supposed to be contacted first in different circumstances?

plus, i'm an icu nurse, how am i supposed to know what happens in childbirth? lol

i plan on contacting the testing centre tomorrow to find out how we get results here.

happy studying everyone! :specs:  :nurse:

I would recommend reviewing the antiplatelet drugs.

[color=#b22222]" also, keep in mind that nclex tests for entry-level knowledge."

i totally agree. i just recently took a review course and they kept repeating over and over and over again that this exam is for entry level knowledge. if i had a dollar for everytime the instructors reminded us, it would have paid for the course itself and more.

Stevenyzwife, I am curious how things went for you? I am an American looking at coming to Australia for nursing school. I'm trying to decide if that is a big mistake unless I plan on staying there to practice.

Hi, I am a U.K nurse working as an RN in Sydney, Australia. I am keen to work as an RN in New York. I have no idea where to start with the NCLEX. There's a lot of information out there and I'm a bit overwhelmed with it all. I'm looking for advise on good study tools and resources. Iv seen some of you mention something about an online NCLEX review, does anyone have a link for this? I have an app on my phone with practice questions. Mainly I'm struggling to work out the process for the NCLEX, I thought I would just register for it and sit it when I feel ready but I read somewhere I have to apply to a board to see if I'm eligible to sit the exam, does anyone know anything about this? Is the exam state specific? Like do I need to sit a specific exam for New York? Is anyone able to give me a step by step on the process? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi there! I applied for NY RN licensure and got my ATT last November. I'm waiting for my NCLEX result (I took it last Tuesday 17th Mar). I know it's been awhile but curious to know your journey... are you practicing in NY now?

(I had an agent helped me through the NY Board application process . He was very efficient (took 4 months to get ATT)).

@dj_rn

Hi jd-RN,

I finished my RN degree last Nov and will receive the parchment this month.

Also want to work in New York. But heard a lot about Oz nursing degrees have deficiencies in OB and Peds.

Did you get an assessment saying no deficiency and all clear to exam? did you have any OB and Peds experience before your application for assessment?

Which agent did you use? Can you please share the website or contact? I will submit my app once receive the parchment.

Many thanks!
