Are the people that post here that they failed skewing preception?

According to statistics

only 10% of us educated first time RN test takers fail

only 15% of us educated first time PN test takers fail

yet I see alot of post from people who have failed some multiple times, my question is do the amount of people who post that they fail make this test feel harder to pass than it acutually is.

I am not being judgemental just posing, I have not taken my boards yet i take march 14, and hope to post my positive outcome shortly after.

Those statistics can't be applied to the All Nurses community for two reasons:

1. Not all posters are US educated

2. Not all posters are first-time NCLEX takers.

The posts here represent international students and those who have taken the test multiple times. The statistics show that after you fail the first time, the chances of passing the next time are lower. It's also possible that people who have failed multiple times are more likely to seek other resources, find AN and then post here. Or that people who have failed are more likely to post than a passer because the person who failed is seeking advice and support. So it makes sense that more than 10% of posts on here will be about failure.

Yes. As the previous poster said, the people who post do not exactly match the general population. So the do skew the perception. I think it makes students much more anxious about the NCLEX than is healthy for the average American nursing student.

Wow, why is it that repeat test takers do worse? I would have thought that they would do better. Interesting and such a large variance.
