75 Questions and 45 Minutes Later...

Well, here's what my morning was like.. I hope I'm not revealing enough to get me in hot water with boards... If I am then MODS please let me know so I can make necessary edits.

Blue screen after 75 q's and I finished in 45 minutes.

Lots of Infection control as previously mentioned...

Lots of triage/priority patients

3 math

12 SATA

8 or 9 Meds - Reactions/Need further teaching

I studied Saunders 4th Ed. CD questions, NCSBN Learning Extension (questions only), HURST Live Review (only the questions helped - the review was kinda basic), and the NCLEX-RN 3500 website thingy - there's a link in one of the threads around here somewhere...

I took one practice test a day (about 75 q's) for a week... did NOTHING last night... and walked in this morning - LUCKILY I don't get test anxiety... I felt weird finishing so early... lol. I'm sure everyone else there was like "Damn.. that dude musta failed it."

I started with an easy question and never saw another one.. I was getting hammered with SATA's and Meds towards the end.... so that's why I'm 99% sure I passed. Nothing that totally threw me.. I could pretty much ADPIE and ASSESS through them.

Tips -

*ASSUME THE WORST

*If it's a cardiac problem and it asks you pick the priority intervention - then pick something CARDIAC related... even though the others sound good...

* If you haven't heard of it - then it's probably safe to say another entry level nurse hasn't either - so don't pick it.

* ABC's

Hope this helps!!! Know your airborne precautions and that you room patients with the same/similar dx's together.

I'll post the official results when I get them!!! HOPEFULLY BEFORE THE 4TH!!!:p

good luck!

thank you for your tips!

GOOD LUCK!:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

Wow....great post!

I had just about the same. I took mine, too. Lots of infection control...But the beginning were full of simple format content type questions, then math, and teaching came in and priority questions started coming as every other question, after another. "who would you assess first, or prioritize what you would do first on 1 patient, and then a list of implementations, but what is the priority?":(

The only things I just :(didn't :(know were the:( meds, they were not cardiac, or endocrine, they were like meds for endometriosis, or non-typical antiinfectives, or non-typical psych meds. Or meds that had adverse effects, I just thought of ABC's and went from there!

ahh...it was too much, I wasn't at all lucky with 75. I had 265! So, at this point I am thinking the worse! The questions just got harder and harder. Even the simple medication teaching! Maybe my brain was starting to over load. We will see!

Good luck to you. Your exam sounded like mine! Your state comes quicker than Cali!:cool:

After I sat in front of the screen, my nerves went down. Seems like the preparation is the scary part!

After I sat and started writing, I no longer felt nervous. It was a comfortable environment....Good luck to ya!:specs:

Whoa, you are a speedy test taker! :up: I had 75 questions as well, but this took me 2 HOURS... I just found out I passed, even though I'm a super slo-mo test taker.

Best of luck to you!!!

Yeah I think they are focusing on those topics right now... seems to be a common theme with everyone that's mentioned what they saw after testing.

The drugs were out there for me too... only 2 that I knew and the rest I just looked for suffix or other clues to try to narrow them down.

Thanks for the good luck wish :) I'm sure you did fine... going that long isnt a BAD thing.. it means you were on the line and if you started getting hit with meds at the end it probably means you made it into the harder bracket :)

Yeah I know whacha mean. I don't get nervous.. I just lean back in the chair, relax, and think them through... I make sure I read carefully for clues to the questions :)
