Weekend nursing program in st.louis?

Barnes Jewish College has an evening/weekend program offered each Spring.

thanks for the replies, I think it is a program that you just attend on weekends but it takes 3 yrs for RN

I think I've recently heard ads for Chamberlain. Be wary however, they have had problems in the past, although I don't know specifics. It's more of a reputation-type thing, I think based on their accreditation status and I honestly don't know what else.

Do a search here on allnurses for "Chamberlain" (I know I've seen threads where they're listed) and then perhaps do a general internet search and see what pops up. That's always interesting....

I know Barnes used to have an ADN weekend course; I haven't looked at their site for years, so have no clue what they're doing now.

Maryville University has a weekend/evening program also.

Chamberlain's online program is closing, but they are opening an oncampus weekend/evening program. Don't really have any details.

Have not heard of any programs that are strictly weekends. Good luck:nuke:

When I contacted Barnes about their ADN program they told me they were getting rid of it.... It's still on their website though, so I dont know...

I talked with them in 2006 when I was applying to different schools, maybe they decided to keep it.

I've read the threads on Chamberlain and that's scary. I feel for those who are stuck in the program. I can relate, I spent a lot of money back in 2002/2003 for a school that wasn't up to par but didn't realize that until it was "the point of no return". They only gave a 2 week grace period for changing your mind, I was past that and it was either leave and lose my $10,000 and have nothing or stay and pretty much graduate with nothing, lol.

What a mess. Never ever again will I go through that. I'm still paying on a student loan that I have never ever used for anything. Such a scam. :angryfire

It did teach me to research my nursing school into the ground. I spent many months looking into schools, checking out sites like BBB and making sure I wasn't wasting more money or my time! I was terrified when it came time to pick schools to apply to, but Chamberlain was not on my list (sadly).

What makes me mad is that these schools are able to operate and take money. My one year certificate was $10,000 AND had I done more research I would have seen that most places will TRAIN for FREE, DUH! I was so upset with the school and reality after I graduated that I never used the certificate for anything. Mainly because employers recognized the certificate and school as a sham and because entry level pay was around $9 with or without the schooling!!! :angryfire

Of course I was told I would graduate and make around $15-18 an hour, yeah, wasn't the case. I'm still ticked! Grrrrrrr....

Anyway, just be careful who you give your money, time and effort to. My red flag would of been how DESPERATE they were to get me into the program.

And just so you know, it was St. Louis College of Health Careers. And I can honestly say about 90% of past students that I've talked to had the same issues AND dont work with what they went to school for. Other tech schools are just as bad.

I'm attending Barnes Spring 09 with evening classes 3 - 4 nights a week and clinicals every other weekend from 7 - 7p Sat and Sun.
