St. Charles Community College Nursing Student

U.S.A. Missouri

Published

Hi. I am new to this website - I just registered today.

I am starting the nursing program at St. Charles Community College this Fall semester. I have read over the program information for both the lab and lecture and it looks pretty intense, especially the lab.

I see that a lot of outside practice is required for the labs. If anyone is interested in being a partner with me for the sake of practicing their labs, please let me know.

My class schedule is as follows:

Monday and Wednesday Lecture: 8 to 9:50am

Tuesday Lab: 2 to 4pm

Thursday and Friday clinicals starting at 7am until noon

I am not employed so I am pretty open.

I would love to make new friends for school. Let me know if anyone is interested in getting in touch - especially if we have the same class/lab schedules.

Congrats on being accepted! I'm also accepted into SCCC ASN program this fall! I'm so excited after all my waiting! I'm also starting a job at barnes jewish hospital admitting in the ER! I'm sure it will be a great experience! I live close to SCCC and live alone and will be working full time...so any tips to manage would be nice and also if you ever need a study buddy i'm sure we'd both benefit! :):):)

Congrats on being accepted! I'm accepted too. Though I have not yet received my official letter. I wonder if we're just supposed to register as normal? I also am working full time. I was considering applying to a hospital but i'm not sure how much i would make and I'd be unable to take a paycut at this time. Are you going to be doing days for nursing school or evenings?

Thanks! I haven't recieved my official letter yet either...but i took my test in january so i know i'm one of the first to take it (and pass!) I believe they should explain registering for classes in the letter. If you get the letter and it doesn't say anything about registering I would call them and ask. I get 11.50/hr but since i work overnights it's 12.50/hr and an extra 1.85/hr for weekends (which i work every other weekend) so it's not bad. I only make 10.75/hr now and it's at an airport which doesn't help me at all with my career. i thought st. charles community college only offered days for their associate of science in nursing, so i guess days. and one professor i spoke with said the clinical hours can really vary because it's more on the hospitals schedule than the schools. What about you?

They actually have evening hours available which is one of the reasons that I decided to apply for this program. I'm not really able to give up my job. I'm anxious to get that official letter though because we're supposed to be registering April 4th. My job has gotten more flexible lately so I'll be ok with either day or evening. I'm really nervous but so excited. I took all the other classes so all i'll have to do are the nursing classes.

I didn't know they offered evening courses...that's neat. I could probably do either as well. I'm anxious to get the letter too! I hope it comes today.. April 4th isn't far away. I'm in the same boat as you, I have all my classes done and this semester i took medical terminology just to help even more and so far i have really learned a lot! Do you plan on getting a bachelor's degree anywhere? I know SCCC has some transfer options to some nearby schools.

I have a bachelors in community health already. But i do plan to get the BSN when I'm done. What about you?

I plan on going for my BSN as well... and later maybe even further once i have some experience under my belt. but i'd love to work in labor and delivery though. that's my goal. and for my bsn i'll prob go to umsl, just cuz it's not too far from me. the good thing about barnes though is they are paying for my school. since sccc is so cheap everything is paid, books, tuition and all. that will save me a lot of money!

Finally! The official acceptance letter came today!

lol. yep I got mine today as well :) yay, congrats!

got mine too! i'm so happy it finally came! congrats to all you girls! does anyone plan on taking the four day course for the nursing 101 tools or whatever its called? sorry, i forgot the name of it, haha

Yeah I plan on taking it. I need all the help and pointers I can get. Did either of decide how you're gonna schedule your classes? I'm thinking of going for the evenings. Not sure yet.

I'm gonna try to take the nursing 101 as well, and i'm probably doing all my classes in the evening as well. it fits my work schedule the best. i'm sure recording lectures would help a lot, so i'm looking for a recorder. i'm sure i'll look like a geek, haha, but idc. i'm determined to get thru work and school.
