St. Charles Community College Nursing Student

I just spoke to an admission secretary and was told that the letters will be sent out before Fall registration, which is in April.

That's great! At least we have a time line now. I've been checking the mail everyday waiting for the letter. I'm driving my b/f bonkers...lol. I am working on the rest of my pre-reqs. After this semester I still have Micro and a second year Eng/Lit class. I wanted to take Micro over the summer, but I don't know if I will be able to. We'll see.

Come on April!

so today i got two letters!

amazing how these two pieces of paper unlocked the flood gate for me to be excited! :d i am so happy i...well, for all of us who got in this semester!!

i don't know if anyone else has this completed yet, but i still have to take the bls class offered on campus this summer. i doubt there are any openings for spring. i'm pretty concrete in my decision of taking micro this summer too, instead of in the fall.

I received my letters yesterday too! I'm so excited. I've already taken everything but the nursing classes, so I'm looking forward to finally starting those. I have to take the BLS class too, I think we all do. I've already looked at the course catalog to start planning my schedule. I'm happy to see that there are classes available throughout the day, even some evening courses! That should help me in planning my work schedule.

Good luck with Microbiology and see you in the Fall!! Maybe we'll have some classes together.

I would like to strongly emphasize that if at all possible, you do whatever it takes to finish all the prereqs before starting classes. If it involves a little stretching, go for it. You will greatly "simplify" your life if you can concentrate purely on the nursing classes you will be taking.

I completely agree with you!! And that wasn't my intention, but since I was waiting (I applied last year) I figured I would take my pre-reqs. I am glad I did it that way after learning more about the nursing program (just about everybody says it is intense). I have, after this semester, Micro and a second year Eng/Lit class left for my pre-reqs. Micro I hope to take over the summer, and Eng/Lit I will have to take probably this fall during first semester of nursing.

Thank you very much for the congrats. I really wasn't expecting to get in this year because of their new system at SCC (which they changed again) but I am excited that I did make it in this year. I look forward to the coming fall!!:yeah:

speaking as an sccc nursing student about to graduate, do not take micro in the fall with your first semester in school. this would be insane. you should take your english this summer with micro.

please listen to my advice.

I was wondering if people who have attended or are attending SCC can tell me if the books we need for NUR 103 have any pages specific to SCC. I know in my COL 101 book there were pages in the back made specifically for SCC. I was just wondering if it was the bundle that was specific or if there were pages also designed for SCC (with the logo). I found a bundle on amazon called the "My Nursing Lab" bundle and was wondering if this is the same bundle.

Also, I am interested to know if you just purchased any books extra (not required) that helped you in nursing school.

i thought of another question: i was wondering what sccs clinical rotations were like. do we stay at one facility for the whole semester? how do they determine which groups go where? how were your experiences at the facilities that scc uses for rotations?

i can't wait for orientation. it feels like it is eons away.

I applied in the summer of 08. I am really hoping to be accepted for fall of 09. I was wondering how long all of you waited. I dont have anything to do, and after this semester Im done with all my prereqs! I also signed up late for my dos calc because I lost my letter. Does anyone know if it goes by who has all their requirements first, or will I still have the spot from when I applied? Id hate to lose my spot because I signed up for the dos calc a week late! Ive worked really hard so far, and I am convinced that I CAN DO THIS. So it kills me that I may not get in or have to wait a long time!

Jillybean- if you are done with all of your prereqs, then take classes that will enable you to get your bsn. TRUST ME.

Unfortunately, I can't afford a BSN program. The only ones in our area are around 20 thousand for that extra year, which to me is unjustafiable. I also don't need/want a BSN. I applied today to other CC programs, but again, my question was, does anyone know about how long acceptance takes at scc? And does dosage calculation test time overrule your application date? So if someone who applied later and is taking the dosage calc earlier than I am, are they going to be accepted before me?
