  1. hello! your best bet would be to talk to one of the nursing advisors and get your application started right away. they do have a waiting list and, last i heard, admission was going by initial date of your application. that could've changed as that was 2 years ago when i heard that. if you have taken a biology course within the last five years, you can go straight to a&p. most people who are waiting just take their prereqs while they wait. http://www.stchas.edu/divisions/msh/rnindex.shtml here is a link with information about their program at scc (admission requirements, cost of program, bridging, etc.) many people don't know about this page and it's actually pretty helpful (especially the "everything you ever wanted to know about nursing school). http://www.stchas.edu/catalog/2008-2010v3/005%20acad-pgm%2008-10%20v2.0.pdf here is a link to the page in the school catalog about the graduation requirements. http://www.stchas.edu/ here is the link to the school's whole website. as of right now, you do not have to take a nutrition class. but things could change. your graduation requirements are based on the catalog that was produced when you started classes at scc. they accept 80 students each fall and the deadline is july 15 or until the spots are full (they usually fill pretty quickly). generally the last step of the process is the dosage test (which you have to pass with a 90%) the first 80 who have everything on their application complete after the dosage test get in. there is so much information. but once you apply at the college they tell you that you have to see a nursing advisor anyways. last i knew there were three, i don't know if there is more or less now. the admission process is stressful because you don't relax until you know you got in. the worst part is the waiting. i hope this helps and good luck with whatever you decide to do!
  2. For second semester with NUR 124 and NUR 125, there is a 6 week rotation of med/surg, 3 week rotation of psych, and a 3 week rotation of peds. Like rhollins said, the lectures are at different times and you only have one lab. Hope this helps a little more!:nuke:
  3. Thank you everyone for your input. From what everyone says, even if I don't need it, it would just be better to buy it brand new. I appreciate everyone taking the time to read this and reply.
  4. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of "My Nursing Lab". You need an access code to use it. I need it for my Fundamentals, Med-Surg , and Pharmacology book. My question is if anyone else had to have it and if they really used it and also any supplemental software. I bought my Fundamentals book on ebay and the seller said there was an unused access code and the DVD came with it. When I got the book, there was no access code and no DVD. I asked the seller about it and she said that she can't find the DVD and asked if I would like to return the book. If I don't really need the "My Nursing Lab" and the DVD, it wouldn't really bother me, but if I need them I guess I should send it back. Thanks in advance!
  5. i thought of another question: i was wondering what sccs clinical rotations were like. do we stay at one facility for the whole semester? how do they determine which groups go where? how were your experiences at the facilities that scc uses for rotations? i can't wait for orientation. it feels like it is eons away. hope everyone is enjoying their summer break!
  6. I was wondering if people who have attended or are attending SCC can tell me if the books we need for NUR 103 have any pages specific to SCC. I know in my COL 101 book there were pages in the back made specifically for SCC. I was just wondering if it was the bundle that was specific or if there were pages also designed for SCC (with the logo). I found a bundle on amazon called the "My Nursing Lab" bundle and was wondering if this is the same bundle. Also, I am interested to know if you just purchased any books extra (not required) that helped you in nursing school. Thank you!
  7. I completely agree with you!! And that wasn't my intention, but since I was waiting (I applied last year) I figured I would take my pre-reqs. I am glad I did it that way after learning more about the nursing program (just about everybody says it is intense). I have, after this semester, Micro and a second year Eng/Lit class left for my pre-reqs. Micro I hope to take over the summer, and Eng/Lit I will have to take probably this fall during first semester of nursing. Thank you very much for the congrats. I really wasn't expecting to get in this year because of their new system at SCC (which they changed again) but I am excited that I did make it in this year. I look forward to the coming fall!!:yeah:
  8. so today i got two letters! amazing how these two pieces of paper unlocked the flood gate for me to be excited! :d i am so happy i...well, for all of us who got in this semester!! congratulations!! i don't know if anyone else has this completed yet, but i still have to take the bls class offered on campus this summer. i doubt there are any openings for spring. i'm pretty concrete in my decision of taking micro this summer too, instead of in the fall. happy st. patrick's day and congratulations again!!! ttfn :)
  9. That's great! At least we have a time line now. I've been checking the mail everyday waiting for the letter. I'm driving my b/f bonkers...lol. I am working on the rest of my pre-reqs. After this semester I still have Micro and a second year Eng/Lit class. I wanted to take Micro over the summer, but I don't know if I will be able to. We'll see. Come on April! p.s. Thank you for posting that. I never would have thought to ask the admission secretaries...:imbar
  10. Hello! This is my first time posting on this site. I registered last year and completely forgot. I got my letter a few weeks ago. I'm kind of excited and kind of worried. I'm a bit of a pessimist so I keep thinking the letter is a "maybe you got in" letter. It just seems so simple. I guess for all the stress I went through hoping to get in, I was expecting a gold ticket or something. LOL. So I'm still waiting for that final letter we are supposed to get, then maybe I will feel fully excited. Congratulations
