Ummmm...biology then nursing?

I have 15 more hours to graduate with a BS in biology. Idk if I should wait and look for acceptance letters or register for summer classes to go ahead and finish before I get into nursing school. :linkme:

I got on the waiting list for holmes and still looking for alcorn and hinds.

Well, I had faced the same dilemma. I believe I'm 15-20hrs short of graduating with my BS in BIO. I just got accepted into Nursing. To prolong my graduation date so that my financial aid won't get reduced because I would then become post-bac I am spreading out my hours during the duration of the nursing program. Face it, it would be time and money wasted if you just trashed that degree. Also, you will receive higher pay because you already have one degree...choice is yours .

I just oust registered for majority of my classes for the summer. And only having like 7 to do in between nursing classes if I get accepted. I'm just praying, but hopefully I can get 1 more for the summer so my main focus can be with nursing.

Thanks for the insights!

Actually in nursing you don't receive higher pay for having a previous non-nursing degree

Actually, no you won't.

i graduated with a biology degree which is completely useless now, and am going to nursing school in the fall. i had to take a bunch of prereqs in the middle, 2 years gone, i wish i switched to nursing as an undergrad, but at the same time im glad i have a degree already, useless as it may ne

nursing school acceptances dont come around alot, if you can get you BSN in that, great

you can always go back and take those 15 hours of biology later, that school isnt going anywhere (and also if they let you lol)

depends on what you want

I agree with zibi. Just wait on the acceptance letter. One will surely come even if it is for another term. Good luck to you.

So I did work things out with my current school. I'll be able to finish my biology degree during the summer and start nursing just focusing on nursing in the fall! Thankful!

Glad you worked it out. I am in the same boat, almost. I have 10 classes (not hours), and I am glad you decided to finish your degree. Only having 10 hours is so close. Congrats on your decision :)
