  1. Yes, UALR is competitive and hard but it's that way for a reason. I attend UALR NURSING now, it's pretty heavy stuff but you will know your stuff and be the nurse that you would want or a love one to have.
  2. @nutrix94 I suggest you going up there and getting your package so that everything is covered. Lol you don't have to tell me twice I've been on amazon all day! I thought that people would think to drop as soon as they heard those prices. I would prefer not to pay out of pocket for books, or rather let financial aid and loans cover those. However, whatever little I can put towards supplies I will. I'll meet Littman and get real acquainted with him the day they make me an RM, until that day I'll be a broke college student with a off brand stethoscope to the ear. I hope you all just work hard at your jobs for the money this summer and not get discouraged. I know I'm putting in weekend job applications at hospitals now . I have a 7-1130 job now , but I wouldn't want that to conflict with getting up at 5 or 4 to get at 6am clinicals on time in the fall!
  3. Well thanks to orientation I am oobbberrrrr excited and very shocked about all the financial barriers of supplies test and kits!!! OMG! I'm going to have to rack up on these scholarships for sure !
  4. Congrats!! It's just the beginning enjoy your flight!
  5. Well, I had faced the same dilemma. I believe I'm 15-20hrs short of graduating with my BS in BIO. I just got accepted into Nursing. To prolong my graduation date so that my financial aid won't get reduced because I would then become post-bac I am spreading out my hours during the duration of the nursing program. Face it, it would be time and money wasted if you just trashed that degree. Also, you will receive higher pay because you already have one degree...choice is yours .
  6. We should all exchange emails or #s soon. Would love to meet you guys at orientation !!
  7. This Tuesday I just screamed and cried in the middle of my job on the register!! ‪#‎Jehovah‬ did it for me!!! ‪#‎NursingSchool‬ ‪#‎NewChapter‬ ‪#‎Accepted‬ ‪#‎UALR‬ ‪#‎UALRNURSING‬ ‪#‎FutureRN‬ ‪#‎FuturePublicHealthNurse‬ maybe ‪#‎TraumaNurse‬ Can't Nothing Break This High Doing This for my Aunt Diane!!! ‪#‎NappyNurse‬ ‪#‎NaturalNurse‬ ‪#‎SteppingStones‬
  8. Congrats man!! An astounding accomplishment !
  9. Hey, do you know when the nursing department at UALR is going to send out acceptance letters? I'm too Xcited
  10. Yesssss Girl!!!!
  11. OMG!!! Same dilemma. I say finish, BUT prolong your graduation date; as in spread out your BS hours, not completing them until you are finish with nursing too. I know financial aid gets cut back when you graduate w/ post-bac and then pursue another degree. So I for one am not going to waste all the years and time I spent on getting my BS. so what I'm going to do is prolong my hours along with taking hours in the nursing program. The MATH: 4 yrs for Biology B.S. + 2 years for Nursing ASN (great career, loving what I wanted to do in medicine, guaranteed success/job/future/happiness/promising/greeeaatt pay/in demand). Think about it...these past 4 years flew by...so imagine 2 more. Also, you'll get higher pay because you already have 1 B.S....you're not so behind as you thought! :)
  12. Hey, eveeeerryone! Today I just submitted my application for nursing school. Wooh! A sense of relief, fulfilment, and happiness. I realized this is the first step towards getting "my happy life",my life of fulfilment, my sense of fulfilment, doing what I love, wanted, and dreamed of...being in medicine.THE DAY I, YES I DID SOMETHING THAT DEFINITELY WILL CHANGE MY LIFE AND MAKE MY FUTURE EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED! Ok, enough of that lol, but I'm just happy! So, also today I had two job interviews. One at STAPLES working 3-4 days/week, 12p-7p shift, w/ flexibility & rotation & every other weekend off @ 8.25ph. Then, working at a doctor's office guaranteed 4days/week w/ weekends off. If accepted into the program I will be occupied this summer from 8-3. Moving on to the fall semester clinicals start! See my dilemma???:***: And I don't know what to do or choose. As of now, I am an in-school tutor being paid 10.00 ph ranking in 9 hrs only. Hours are short due to the school system's classes dedicated to tutoring. So, this is crap, but good gas money. So, I have money in my saving's account and checking that will take care of me all year. However, I want income to steadily come in. Bills still have to be paid and rainy days are ahead! They never fail. Help me choose my options. I want to be dedicated to my studies, while still making bank and getting sleep! Should I: *Work @ Staples; where the schedule is flexible, work a minimum of 3 days and every other weekend off (12-7p). 8.25ph. Leaving applicable time for me to study and on days off I can get extra few bucks still tutoring from 12:30-3:30. 5 minutes from my house and school!! Both in reach if car breaksdown. *Work @ Doctor's Office; Dream Job as a young undergrad bio student. 4 days/week (12-4). Weekends off. 8.00ph. Very Stress Free. Can get to know nursing staff and doctors easily. *Good recommendation letters for scholarships* Leaves time to study. Couldn't work in the summer or during fall semester of nursing.Would be out of reach if car broke down. I know some of you say "no brainer". Not so much...HEEEELLLPPP:wacky:
  13. First off CCCCCCCCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNGGRRAAATTTS! I just submitted my app today! Also, I am battling the same dilemma. I have so many hours to take before graduating to. I've asked the same question "would be beneficial". Here's what I got: -Yes, because that would be a waste of money and years in school for your initial goal, biology B.S. -It's only 4 hours left!!! -You'll get more pay, because you have a B.S. already and also one in Biology in case you want to venture out to other aspects of science or nursing. -LASTLY, you might want to prolong FINISHING your degree (STRETCHING OUT HOURS) b/c when you graduate and then come back for another degree, you are then considered "Post-Bac". You want receive as much financial aid, scholarships or loans. So take those remaining hours sparingly (i.e. matching them up against the semesters you have left to graduate nursing). AGAIN CONGRATZ and Best Wishez!!
  14. Thank you and best wishes!
