Just graduated!
Thank You for the well wishes! I want to work with the Veterans as I was a Navy Corpsman with the Marines (8404-FMF) 68-71. Any pointers would be appreciated.

When someone mocks you for being a nurse
This is what I say when mocked: "When you say that, you really show how ignorant you are on the subject, and if you wan't to sound informed I would be glad to take the time to explain it to you". ';-})>

Howard Community College Fall 2011
I too am starting the day program at HCC. Have you gotten your notice about the August 22 mandatory orientation? It is now within the time envelope for the drug screening requirement. Will do that next week when I return to Maryland. Best to all on the wait list. Hope to see you.

Ages of male nursing students?
The question of age for male nursing students has truly been on my mind! I "start" a 2 yr. RN program (in Maryland) this fall 2011. I am "62 years young". I was a naval hospital Corpsman 1967-71 and for awhile after other medical field experiences. Now some 30+ years later it was back to school. I struggled somewhat through the science prerequisites but have really enjoyed being in an academic environment. I am both apprehensive and excited at starting the RN program. I was an excellent Corpsman and believe that although technology and other aspects of medicine have changed the value of a compassionate and skilled caregiver will always have an important roll. Appreciate any feedback as I am new to posting on allnurses.com and the male nursing student portion.
