0Jan 18, '12 by exnavygirl-RN, MSNYes, we are doing this. I had to do write mine for the first time recently. I had no clue what I was doing or what they wanted to know. I was given a guideline but it very generic. It focuses a lot on "outcome". What did you implement and what was the outcome? I just signed my performance appraisal. I better understand, now, what I need to do next time.

I graduated with a BSN. A few years ago I would have automatically become a Nurse II, but by the time I graduated, the rules had changed to putting the BSN on the Nurse I pay scale. I was so bummed. Now it seems as though I struggling to climb the pay scale. I am currently seeking my MSN and I don't know where I will be or if it will make much difference.Yes, we are doing this. 0Jun 30, '12 by scooter950I just started working at the VA - the pay scale is unbelievable IMHO but the second best part: nurses earn 8 hrs. of leave every pay period. That's 26 vacation days each year - plus 10 holidays- plus sick days. OMGosh I plan to stay here until I retire! i have a copy of the RN pay scale - pay is frozen at the 2010 rates- but I cannot copy & paste the pay scale into this comment, i don't know why. I don't have the LPN scale.
I have my master's degree in nursing- for over 20 yrs, i have over 30 yrs nursing experience and I was offered a nurse 2 step 12 salary. I really expected to be a nurse 3 but I think nurse 3 is for admin / management? whatever, I'm very satisfIed with the salary. THE application process is very long, you must receive written letters from the references. WHat I did was to write the letters for my references, they appreciated it and just tweeked the letters and signed them, mailed the letters to the VA recruiter. Each letter must address the nine domains of nursing - it's all available on the VA website as well as the experience based interview questions. SO I did a LOT of preparation for the interview and -- once selected- you must supply the letters before the VA nursing board evaluates you and rates you according to your experience/ as written in the letters of reference. google VA experience based questions and there are pages of questions, and they did ask me questions from the website- i interviewed for three jobs- hang in there if you're applying- Scooter
