Fall Adn-i Need Advice From Newly Accepted Students Or Current Adn Students!

Hello everyone!! I am applying for the Fall ADN program at ICC this year. I have spent the last year working hard on my pre-reqs and all of the "non" nursing classes. I've managed to keep a 4.0 in the process and join Phi Theta Kappa...my only problem my ACT....I'm scared it is fixing to haunt me! I've only taken it once, and I made a 20 on it. Like most people trying to get into the program I have a lot at stake...I guess I need reassurance? I applied to NWCC and was rejected...I made 60% on the NET, 4.0, and the 20 on ACT...Although ICC has always been my first and for most choice, I felt like such a loser...being rejected is a hard blow when you know that you have tried and worked so hard...Anyway, I was wondering maybe for those of you who have been accepted, what were your scores upon acceptance? thanks for your insight!

Hi there! Just wear regular street clothes. You'll probably be in an "interview" with about 8 or 9 other people. You sit around the table and she'll hand you different papers on what shots you have to have, when you'll be fitted for uniforms, etc. They'll have you write a small statement explaining why you want to be a nurse. That sort of thing. When is your interview?

My interview is June the 17.....so i will only have two months to get all my stuff done. should i start getting shots now are just wait?

It couldn't hurt you to go ahead and start. You'll have to have a 2 step TB test performed. You go one day get stuck, wait 5 ? days (can't remember) get stuck again, then they'll "read" and see if you are negative 2 or 3 days later. You'll have to have the health dept or whomever to fill out a form saying you've had it done (I might wait until after the 17th to get this one done.). On your Hep B shots and stuff, you can start now. That's a series of 3 shots given over time. Personally, I'd go ahead and start to get it going and that's just that much less you have to worry about. Gotta have a physical. They'll give you all the forms and such at your interview. You'll have to be CPR certified as well. If you can find a class, go ahead and take it. Sometimes the school has them, or you can call the red cross or SCRMC and see who's having classes. They should have some somewhere this summer.

I just graduated from NEMCC, but I thought I would wish you luck!! Before I was accepted, I did not have a 4.0 and got in just fine. I had made a 22 on my ACT, but IMO, I'd think your 4.0 would count for more. It did on our point system if I remember correctly! Best of luck to you! :D

Im at Hinds Allied Health Center. I got in with a 22 ACT and 4.0 grade point average.

We're on a point system and you can score up to 20 pts. They base it of the following

ACT Composite:

Reading Sub Score:

Math Sub Score:

GPA:

Prior degree:

In each section you could make up to a total of 4 pts. Like, in math if you made an 18 you got 1 point, 19= 2 points 20-21= 3points, and anything 22 or over got 4 points. Total all the sections up and that's where you were on the list.....

They sent out the first acceptance letters for anyone over 10. Then once they Knew who was attending they went down the list.

Hope that helped some!! Good luck to you!!!
