I live in Camden NJ and upon graduation i want to go straight into the ICU. So please tell me what hospital ur talking about? Do they have a good orientation program? Do u live in De but work in NJ? PM me please

I'm guessing that would be at Cooper University Hospital. The area is kinda dangerous and I think one can never be paid enough to work in an area where crime rate is super high.

California (Bay Area, SF-ish) is about $33.00-36.00 to start days and then if you work nights its about 15% diff which works out to $38-41.00. But we have the high cost of housing here.

I'm originally from CA and I believe that hourly pay and I also believe that the standard of living is commensurately high. It's all relative. If one chooses to live in SF, be prepared for sticker shock of your life, but on the positive side, SF is a fun place to be!

I started in San Diego at $26.00 with a $4 dollar diff. Now local hospitals start @ $27-30 + diff for nights.

Here in Clear Lake, Tx (as suburb of Houston) new grads in the ICU are getting $21/hr for days, + $3 for evenings, + $4 for nights, plus an extra $1 for weekends.

In SWFL, it is roughly $17.50/hr and that doesn't nearly meet the cost of housing.

    Hi,

Philadelphia area, including city and suburbs, $24.00-$26.00/hr. Penn Health System is very competitive for new grads--$26.00/hr. base rate. 15% diff and 20% for nights. I applied to both city and suburbs and really didn't see much of a difference. Most city hospitals do pay ~6% more, which compensates for the wage tax and parking.

I am surprised.. I would have thought ICU nurses would have made much, much more than that.....

At my hospital, all RNs have the same payscale regardless of where they work. ICU, Med-surg, OB, ER, etc... RNs all start at the same rate & follow the same increments.

However, a local contracting company here in Seattle offers $40-45/hr +benefits for ICU RNs with at least one year experience.

in Charleston, WV new grads $17.50 < and this from the biggest hospital in the state with 3 campuses, level 1 trauma...open heart, 9 ICUs, all the bells and whistles blah blah blah....plus no critical care pay, AND the health insurance is outrages.......(cheapos)............in Huntington, WV new grads $19.80 plus free health insurance which can add a few bucks to the hourly pay!!

Yeah - but do you end up getting canceled all of the time?
