Anatomy in the summer??

U.S.A. Michigan

Hello,

I am trying to finish up the last of my pre reqs for nursing school and anatomy happens to be the one! I wanted to be able to start applying to schools by the end of the fall semester or sooner if possible which leads me to my question. Has anyone ever taken AP in the summer? I am going to be at HFCC and I have heard that its greuling and very time consuming. Do you think it would be a bad idea to do this? Any advice is helpful. Thanx!

Anatomy in the summer? Hmmmm.... I wouldn't do it. I say that because there is a lot of information that you have to learn and continue to build upon in that class and with spring/summer sessions not being the length of fall semester (15 weeks) it's a short length of time for all that information. But you do what's best for you :). Good luck!

P.S

Not a HFCC student but anatomy is anatomy

Did A&P I in the summer at OCC. It was OK. Did Patho and Pharm in 9 Weeks, along with Med/Surg II and a few others in 8-10 weeks in nursing school. That was less pleasant but doable.

It depends on what kind of student you are... How well have you performed in past science classes... How bad do you want to apply to NS school... I took both a&p I and II in the summer back to back at OCC. I had to if I wanted my applications to go in on time. I got an A in both. You just have to buckle down for 2 months. It will be unpleasant, and you may feel like your summer would have been best spent doing fun things. It's doable and for me worth the extra time and effort.

313RN how long was anatomy at OCC? At HFCC AP1 is from 5/11-6/28 or something like that. All in all its about 8 weeks long I believe. We go to class Tues-Thurs with Lab on Tues and Thurs and just lecture on Wednesday. So all in all I would be in class 4 hours on Tues and Thurs and just 2 on Wednesday

A damsel thanks for that! I know that I need to get this done so that I am able to apply to all the schools I would like to in the fall. I am able to get on the waiting list at HFCC after I complete the Chemistry class I am taking right now. I need AP 1 & 2 so that I can apply to OCC and WCCCD. I know that WCCCD requires Micro as well so I will be able to apply after fall 2010 semester when I do Micro. I am just hoping not to burn out before it is all said and done!

It's been a couple of years, but I think it was about 8 weeks. I know it was T, Th 6-10. 2 hours lecture followed by 2 hours lab.

Good Luck

I feel that schedule would be so much better than 3 days of lecture and 2 days of lab that they are piling on! Well hopefully I do well everyone wish me luck I am going to give it a try! Good bye summer :uhoh3:

Go for it! I took 233 (at HFCC) in the summer, and it was fine. Believe me, it's much better than taking them WITH the nursing program (which is when I had to take 234). You can do it! Good luck!

Im trying to get into A&P 2 over the summer. I think its a May to August class.

Well May to August is definitely a lot better than having to take it from may to the end of June!

I'm taking A&P II in the spring at OCC. It runs from 5/11-6/30. I'll be going TTh from 10a-4p (that's lecture from 10-1 and lab from 1-4 both days). I really wanted to take it with the prof I currently have...she's great!! :-) Good luck in whatever you decide!
