Nurses Men

Published

Greetings to all.

My name is Scott and I just wanted to take the time and say hello to everyone. I am a nursing student studying to get my LPN. I am already a CNA and I just wanted to go up from the bottom up. This way when I have my MSN I'll be able to relate to everyone because I will have been through it all. I"m a very curious person and I like to ask questions so if anyone is willing to answer, let me thank you in advance.

I have heard horror stories about the treatment of male nurses but like I said I heard. I have thick skin and being that my mother is not only a nurse (20+ years), but she is also retired from the Army (20+ years), so I can handle anything.

Thanks for listening and I look forward to making new friends.

Scott

Great reply! Glad you've recovered well post-op. :balloons:

I'd bet you will make a great RN. I loved my two A&P classes. Study, study, and study some more and you will be fine.

Yes, it would be  for us to see you & yours at JB Fitness Center. If, I'm accepted to the Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing [June '06] the odds of meeting at the JB Fitness Center will be increased, greatly. BTW, sounds like we are all in the same age group. Not getting older, just wiser... like a good bottle of wine just keep getting better with age.

HOOAH!

I have a tough professor at SAC....so far I have the highest grade, but he is old and forgetful and makes things frustrating, but I will hang in and make a competitive grade. (It will take a miracle :uhoh21: ) I plan to apply at UTHealth Science Center for BSN, I have completed 40 credit hrs or the 62 required prereqs. I'd like to become a PACU nurse. I find Anesthesia very interesting. It's amazing what happens to our bodies during and (after :uhoh21: 0.... how all systems shut down, and then start back up :) tc) I would love to be there for people who have to go through it!

BTW, my husband drives the 'poor people' corvette...TransAm firebird RamAir?(sorry but I am not so good with that terminology) We visited the Corvette factory in Bowling Green KY while we were stationed in Ft.Knox. If I ever get money I'll get the blue convertible corvette with shiny wheels..... dreams... first I have to look up 'reticuloendothelial system' online, it's not in our book, the instructor doesn't tell us about it and WILL have questions about it on the test because it is in his syllabus...he did something similar to us on the first test...I am getting smarter and will outtrick him this time :rotfl:

Good luck to you and I keep my fingers crossed that you will get accepted into the program

Your husband has a WS6 Trans Am [Firebird]. I love the FBodys [chassis designation for the Firebird & Camaro] & I've owned 6 thru the years.

In fact, traded in '02 TA

PACU is a good place to work, IMHO. Good luck & thanks for the same!

Thanks for the very nice pictures! I will work on sending one of the Trans Am, it's pewter color. Keep your eyes open for my post, since it may take a little while. I am not so good with computer technology :uhoh3:

Maybe some day we can all go cruisin' :coollook: (if we can still afford it and the gas prices aren't getting too much higher!!!!!) :)

Wow, small world. My TA was pewter-metallic, which is probably my second favorite car color.

What a lovely picture, you are both very nice looking. Are there any little corvette guys or gals?

I have two sons, 21 and 7.

The 21 year old loves to drive fast :bluecry1: and wants to become a car mechanic and work for Porsche :wink2:

Thanks for the kudos. Did you visit my website for more nice pics?

I have two sons, and one step-daughter, all in there early to mid 20's. None of them own a Vette. Matt has owned Firebirds before, and now has a truck ...

He, too, likes to drive fast. I'm glad he owns a truck, rather than a sports car. He was a 91D [OR Tech] in the USAR, then was accepted into the University of Houston Army ROTC Cadet program. He is in his jr. yr & wants to be a surgeon.

Love the pics on your website, the interior of the corvette is way too beautiful. Sounds like you guys are very successful, and your children, too. I hope it's not too late for me, I didn't start college until I was 30 +

Its not too late for you, silly! I did not even start to college until I was 30 yrs old, geez we have too much in common. :lol2:

I noticed that alot of my older college classmates that were going to school for there second career were far more dedicated than most, not all, the college kids straight out of high school.

You will do fine!. So, don't doubt yourself for one minute [0-59 secs is acceptable right before an exam ;) ].

Thank you so much for your encouragement. I definitely need more self confidence, something I lacked all my life. I need to stop doubting myself, and for my B-day tomorrow l should go out into the backyard and dig a big hole and bury all negative thougts, and pour a thick layer of concrete on it (so that the dogs can't dig it back up :wink2:)

BTW my husband and 7 year old will make a trip to Buda to the Cabela Outdoors store tomorrow (don't know if spelling is correct) to give me a break so that I can study (and have my private ceremony in the yard :lol2: ) . He likes hunting and fishing. I love outdoors also, camping, hiking etc.

We do have a lot in common, that's great, I love it and I am glad that we met. Llife is good!

Keep in touch, and have a wonderful weekend

You are freaking me out... my wife & I live about a mile from Cabela's. I've been to Cabelas about 3x's. I'll be at work tomorrow from 7a-3p, too bad we could meet up. I need to buy a tarp to cover some of my martial arts equipment that needs to be put in the storage shed in the backyard. Our garage is for the '01 C5 Coupe & '04 Honda S2000.

Speaking of backyard...

Back on topic... no matter if a male, or a female nursing student it is great to have a supportive spouse. Its nice of your hubby to give you some quiet time for studying.

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

I don't have any horror stories to tell regarding me being a male in nursing.

All my horror stories about nursing are equal opportunity and don't have anything to do with me being male.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for the wonderfully, vibrant birthday train. That is sweet of you.

It's been really cold and gloomy here all day and it lifts my spririt. One day without sunshine and temps below 80 in Texas and we all go into shock!!!!! :D

wow, you are also into martial arts. I will attend a KWANDO class tomorrow morning at BAlly's which is both fun and a great cardio workout.

Thanks again and I'll talk to you soon :wink2:
