  2. Are there any evening nursing programs in philadelphia area?

  4. LaSalle University

I went to La Salle for their evening and weekend program. I enjoyed it about as much as I think that you can enjoy nursing school. It certainly had its moments that I was fed up with it, but I would imagine that every program has its ups and downs....
  5. UPenn Second Degree/ABSN Fall 2016

Please stop perpetuating the rumor that there is a nursing shortage. There is absolutely no such shortage in Philadelphia, nor in many areas of the country. It is very hard as a new grad to get a job here. Many new grads end up in LTACs or SNFs, o...
  6. Penn doesn't offer any differential for weekends and they did away with their Weekend Only program a few years back. Keep in mind that with Penn as a Clinical Nurse I even though you start out at 27.32/hr, once you make Clinical Nurse II (within 2 y...
  7. Are there any evening nursing programs in philadelphia area?

I went to La Salle for their evening and weekend program. It's called the Achieve program. It's the only program around here that does evenings/weekends (I don't know about any that aren't BSN, there may be ADN programs that do this).

  9. RN, NP, or PA?

Wikipedia is not a reliable source for anything, and this DNP initiative is state by state so far. I don't think that many states have started requiring a DNP as of yet. In my area most of the schools still have a MSN program and there are many "To...
  10. Is it hard to get a job in philly as a new graduate nurse?

It is very difficult to get a job as a new nurse in Philly without knowing someone in a hospital already. When I graduated, it took the people who didn't know someone 4-8 months to find a job. A handful of people ended up at nursing homes or rehabs...
  11. Treatment by respiratory therapist/inner cannula difficulty

I see a lot of these trach patients for the same, head/neck/laryngeal cancer and I have also occasionally had problems inserting a non-disposable or disposable IC back in. I would say that maybe there was a plug in there, maybe they coughed after th...
  12. Any nurses from University of Penn Hospital here?

    Congratulations!
  14. Thomas Jefferson University?

One of my coworkers is currently at TJU for her FNP and I swear that she told me that she had to find her own preceptors. Good luck to you!
  15. New grad @ Virtua Memorial Hospital - Mt. Holly

Honestly I would go ahead and take it anyhow. It probably starts ~$28 or so with a differential for night shift. If you don't like it, do your year, get your experience, and then leave. It's better than no job and there just aren't that many aroun...
