  1. Hands-on skills course

Thank you for the feedback! I'm looking at a couple hospitals that offer a critical care fellowship for experienced nurses, but the job I am most interested in, and am in the interview process for, is not a fellowship (though they do accept ED nurses...
  2. Hands-on skills course

Hello, I’m primarily an ER/trauma nurse that has been in admin for the past couple years (though still working PRN at freestandings). I’m looking into some opportunities that would be back at the bedside in more of a critical care setting....
  3. Getting a job in the ER when you don't have experience

It all depends on the hospital. I got a job as a new grad with Medstar WHC (washington dc) in the ED. WHC routinely hires new grads no problem - in my group of 6 for this hiring phase (there's about 4 a year), 5 of us are new grads. Whereas my old co...
  4. Washington Hospital Center New Grad February 2014

Hi, I just wanted to wish you the best of luck real quick! I am in the latest class (October 2013), working in the ED as a new grad. Hope you hear back soon. Let me know if you have any questions about orientation.

When I started my traditional 4 year BSN program, there were three men, including me, out of 50 or so total. One dropped by second year, one dropped before senior year.
  6. New Grad BSN salary in northern Virginia???

Unfortunately I do not know a lot about outpatient, but Inova is $25 for new grads, MedSTAR WHC in DC is $28, and Reston is around $25 as well.
  7. Trauma Centers- East Coast

Thats about 24 patients per day, for a single highly specialized trauma unit. The ICU at my local hospital is a generalized ICU with only 12 beds, and only gets 1-3 admits a day. I 'm sure one massively critical patient per hour is more than enough! ...
  8. Trauma Centers- East Coast

Inova Fairfax in Falls Church, VA. MedSTAR Washington Hospital Center, in NW DC. UVA in Charlottesville, VA (not near water, sorry). Shock Trauma in Baltimore you know. Several in Boston and NY, probably one in Richmond, VA though I'm forgetting the ...
  9. Hello everyone, Looking to see who else has been accepted into the October 2013 RN Residency/Bridge program with MedSTAR Washington Hospital Center. I myself am a new grad BSN, coming from 4 years of tech experience (float pool, ED) with Inova and Re...
  10. Washington Hospital Center

I was offered (and accepted) a position for the upcoming residency program in the ED. I found the whole process to be very quick, cordial, and overall a good experience. Coming from a Level III suburban hospital as a tech to this type of facility wil...
