I think one of the cruelest things we do is let patients lay in nursing home beds without the legal ability to terminate their own lives. I'd be interest in what other nurses think of this. If you ask active people who are in their 40s and alert and ...

NCLEX questions are tricky and are designed to make you think. They usually give you 4 choices and two of the choices are nearly the same and always the wrong choices. The last two are the two you have to pick from. I did both the LPN and RN NCLEX a...

If I were a woman I probably would not work as a nurse however being a guy nurse women nurses NEVER give me a hard time about anything. A few tried over the years and I reamed them like I owned them. No co-worker has the right to call you "newbie" or...

Why don't you try LTC nursing? It's a lot less stressful and yes you do get to spend time with your patients because in LTC your patients are usually with you a lot longer than your patients on a telemetry floor or in a hospital. I've been a LTC nurs...

I've never had the flu (so far) so I NEVER get a flu shot and I would dare anyone on this planet to tell me I have to get a flu shot. I'd be running for the attorney section in the yellow pages.

I've been in LTC for 12+ years and have never regretted it. I like working in Geriatrics. So what if I don't use all the "skills" hospital nurses use. I still earn a good salary and I still feel good about my work with senior citizens. Some of the mo...

Thank you all for the help and information. Sorry it took so long to respond. It's been about 9 months into the ADON job and I think I have everything pretty much under control. It's different than floor nursing and I do miss my patients.
