  1. Texas Health Resources(not new grad)

Hi fellow nurses, I was hoping to find out some information on Texas Health Resources. I live out of state (but from Louisiana with family in Dallas) and am looking to move to the Texas area. So far I have only interviewed with THR while still wait...
  2. Starting WGU February 1st, 2018

I am also slated to start February 1st! I've had my ADN for 5 yrs almost and am now needing my BSN as many places we want to move are requiring it. I'm really hoping to finish in 6 months, we will see!
  3. Baylor university med center?

Does anyone work at a Baylor facility in Texas? We are relocating to Texas this summer and I'd like to apply. The only catch is they are magnet status and in all their job postings, it says BSN required. I have 4.5 yrs experience as a nurses and am...

This post is a little on the old side but I'm slated to start February. Working on getting everything together to start. I also Have to take statistics as well and another a&p class. Not sure if I can Test out of those fast or not!
  5. Abdominal binder question

We use a white one as well that velcros in place and is approximately 12-15 inches long. It goes over the incision. As a previous csection patient, it is amazing!
  6. RNs to do glucose checks on patients without DM

We do all of our own glucose checks. Something I guess happened where a nursing assistant didn't report off the check or something to that effect. We don't do many aside from our newborns.
  7. What would help you love your job?

I would like to see better working conditions, following ratio guidelines, offering more workplace incentives(raises, better insurance, better retirement, etc). The hospital here is the only hospital around and they don't improve things bc they know ...
  8. On-Call Pay Survey

2.50$ an hour for a total of 8 hours. I think it's low too.
  9. What is the most overtime you've ever worked

In the nearly year I've been here, maybe 4-5 hours of OT.
  10. What does a day as a floor nurse consist of?

Each field has it's level of grossness. I work postpartum/newborn so my gross days are newborn poop and spitup and post partum bleeding. It's really not bad. I typically care for well people(sure some have chronic conditions but it isn't bad). I ...
  11. Days or Nights with kids?

I work 7p-7am(get to work around 6pm and leave at 730 most days). I have kids aged 9, 6, and 5. All of them are in full time school. My husband drops the kids off at school and picks them up(he is a stay at home parent) and then we are with kids u...
  12. L&D Jobs Summer 2014

I know the hospital I work for is always hiring nurses(it is in NC). CFVMC if you want to google it.
  13. A nurse who doesn't breastfeed

I had 3 children before I was a nurse and not one of them breastfed. I am all for whatever gets the baby fed and I present that to all my moms. If they want to breastfeed, I do whatever I can to help them be successful, if they want to formula fee...
  14. Couplet care/ discharge nurse/ baby friendly

We typically have 4 couplets. Like pp said, when you mix in antepartums and nicu moms you may have 5 moms and 3 babies which to me is harder bc the moms are the hard ones. 3 couplets is super awesome and perfect. 4 can be really hard if you have a ...
  15. Am I making a mistake?

I work mother baby and love it! But I fear it's not making me marketable as a nurse. I don't worry about it because if i am not on this field or a related one, I will choose not to work. I say work at a job that you are happy at!
