About OlatheJessica

I'm working though those pre-req's and mounds of applications still. In my spare time I try very very hard to raise my two kids and keep my house somewhat in order.

  1. St. Luke's SON Spring 2012 anyone?

Which section did you pick? I registered for the plan B and have my clinical day as Friday (which is what I wanted and why I was logged in at 7am this morning). Glad you got your first choices!
  2. St. Luke's SON Spring 2012 anyone?

I'm not sure what their ranking schedule is but they have a 3.6 GPA average I think. I had a 3.79 GPA and a 4.0 Science GPA but the positive at St. Luke's is that they allow you to replace credits if you've done poorly on a course (I failed a semeste...
  3. St. Luke's SON Spring 2012 anyone?

Anyone else starting? Two months left until nursing school begins!!
  4. Anyone had to fill out Nursing CAS when doing Apps?

I'm glad to know I'm not alone in hating Nursing CAS... I retook a bunch of classes after failing about seven years ago (all with A's now). My college EXEMPTED the prior classes and zeroed them out but does NCAS take that into account where the colle...
  5. Edukan or Iowa Community Colleges online for science pre-req's?

I don't think it matters very much, I guess it might matter if one CC makes you take say A&P for Micro pre-req and another doesn't, but I used Pratt and haven't had any problems.
  6. Edukan or Iowa Community Colleges online for science pre-req's?

I didn't check about transferability because you do the course itself through a community college (Pratt CC was who I used) and I've had no problems, all mine so far transferred to my school, JCCC (which has a fairly strict transfer policy). The exa...
  7. A&P I and II at the same time

Have you tried using edukan? You can take an accelerated A&P I and an accelerated A&P II back to back and get them done within a semester? I've taken (and am still taking II) both accelerated and it requires a lot of time, but I imagine one ...
  8. Edukan or Iowa Community Colleges online for science pre-req's?

I don't really know about Iowa CC, but I've done a number of Edukan classes, as well as A&P I and A&P II with labs and I've really liked them both. They're usually on the fast side, but I honestly like the accellerated courses because it's al...
  9. CNA class at Kansas College of Nursing?

Our clinicals were at a LTC in Shawnee, so it wasn't a huge drive difference, and the clinicals were in the morning either at 6:45am or starting at 2pm. You don't need to wear your scrubs to the classes but you will need to buy them for clinicals, wh...
  10. A Nurse CAN be both sexy & smart

There was a student in one of my classes who had the need to show her ta-ta's every day of class in those plunging necklines... I looked forward to clinicals to not have to see them (I'm a girl, I have my own to look at). But I swear, she searched hi...
  11. Is it true: required to be CNA before LPN or RN?

I'm willing to bet your friend is referring to requirements from a specific nursing program. I know that a lot of the community colleges require a CNA certificate prior to enrolling in the LPN/RN program, although I don't believe many of the BSN prog...
  12. CNA class at Kansas College of Nursing?

I'm just finishing up my CNA course at Kansas College of Nursing (in part because of the reviews on this thread) and I've LOVED it. I really feel that the instructor wants us to be not only competent at our jobs, but excellent. I'm pretty sure we've ...
  13. JoCo CNA jobs, Hospital or LTC?

Thanks for all the replies everyone, I'm almost done with my CNA class now (which I've loved) and I'm waiting until after I take the exam to start applying, as it seems that no one wants to talk to you until it's official. Parumph, I am taking my CN...
  14. JoCo CNA jobs, Hospital or LTC?

I'm starting a CNA class next week and I'm a little ahead of myself but I'm thinking about jobs after the fact. I'd really prefer to work nights (I'm a night owl, is this an option?) and I'm trying to determine what would be the best route to go as I...
  15. Student Loans: When is too much?

So I'm applying to nursing schools, hopefully to start Fall 2011 or Spring 2012. Here's the thing, I am approx a 3.2 GPA and I've done very well on my ACT's, I have excellent references and my GPA should be up to about a 3.6-3.7 (I'm redoing a few cr...
